what is governments doing to control AI? Fuel the fire? GPT 5 is coming and it will cause more layoffs. And governments are fuelling the fire instead of controlling big tech and AI.
What do you want the Indian government to do? Personally, I think it's inappropriate for them to interfere with private businesses unless it's a health and safety issue. I guess they could make it a crime to use AI but would that really serve their country?
Indeed, AI has a way of humbling us all. The more arrogant one is, the greater the lesson in humility they'll face.
Throughout history, some people have tried to stop the use of technology for a variety of reasons. It doesn't work. Technology has a life of its own, once released into the wild. Here's the good news: humans are really, really good at adapting tools and technologies for their own purposes. Remember back in the 1990's when the Internet was going to change the business world, isolate workers and make most job obsolete? Other than travel agents and a few other niche jobs, the Internet has done none of that. Humans bent and shaped it to fit into their own lives. We will do the same with AI, despite its fearsome intelligence.
There was a song that came out which talked about how videos were going to replace "the radio star". I think that song was from the early 70's.
it's our limited intelligence that determines that AI won't overtake us. How many times has a customer given a professionally written spec to a software development company and never had to revise any of the functionality or UX? "Well, now that we see it, it's not what we want" "Can you show us where we misread the spec?" "You built what we asked for, we just don't want it anymore" I can't see big software projects being successfully written by AI when it can't even get the basics right.
