Is affiliate marketing still worth it in 2025?

I'm seriously considering diving deep into affiliate marketing, hoping to achieve location independence. However, I'm facing some doubts. With Google's recent algorithm updates seemingly impacting affiliate sites and the rise of AI potentially disrupting traditional content creation, I'm wondering if this is still a sustainable path.

Is launching an affiliate website in 2025 a smart move, or is the era of affiliate marketing fading? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Affiliate marketing isn't dead - it's evolving. Yes, Google updates and AI have changed the situation, but there are also new opportunities.

First of all pick your niche carefully. Look for areas where people need detailed guidance before making purchases - tech products, high-ticket items, or complex services often work well.

And diversify your traffic sources. Don't put all your eggs in the Google basket. Consider building an email list, leveraging social media, and exploring video content. Pinterest and YouTube can be great for affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is still the best business model out there until you reach at least $100 a day for people who don't want all the headaches and technical considerations of being a vendor. Don't just rely on search engines for traffic.

We have a web hosting affiliate program ( https://www.ethernetservers.com/affiliates ) and receive a fair few sales through it, it's definitely still something that's popular and I'd imagine will continue to remain so.

It’s still worth it, especially if you’re able to become an affiliate with an hosting company. It’s a great way to earn passive income.

Well its more and more competitive but its far from beying dead .Now you need to be smart ,find your way and dont depend only on one traffic source like search engines .

Its important to learn how to drive traffic and the money will come ,also you need to bring some value to people ,you cannot expect to share links everywhere and to be able to make 200$ per day

Launching an affiliate marketing website in 2025 can still be a smart move, especially if you’re willing to invest time in understanding the landscape, providing real value, and adapting to changes. It may require more effort and creativity than in the past, but those qualities can differentiate you from the competition. Ultimately, success in affiliate marketing is possible if you are committed to learning, engaging authentically with your audience, and staying adaptable.

It is really hard to become an affiliate if you do not have any traffic already.

However, just found an interesting guide that helped me understand API monetization with AI - zero coding needed. Was skeptical at first but the step-by-step approach actually works. Made my first $300 last month following the methods. The book's only $6.90 on Kindle and saved me months of trial and error. Found it really helpful for getting started with AI APIs without a tech background.

Forum rules may cause problems if I give a link, but if anyone wants, I can send the link to the book privately.

That is up to you. It's definitely harder than in the old days(market saturation) but if you play your cards right, it's still very much profitable. Not to mention you are sitting behind a monitor, maybe in your pijamas.

Absolutely still worth it — just no longer “easy mode” like it might’ve felt 10 years ago. In 2025, affiliate marketing is all about quality, strategy, and building trust. Google’s updates aren’t anti-affiliate per se — they’re anti-low-value. So if you’re solving real problems with great content (whether written, video, or even AI-assisted), you’re in the game.

That said, don’t treat SEO as your only lifeline. Build an email list early. Use Pinterest, YouTube Shorts, even niche communities. And think beyond Amazon — there are solid programs in SaaS, finance, gardening, fitness, you name it. The model works, but the bar is just higher now — and maybe that’s a good thing.
