We made the switch from Shopify to a custom e-Commerce solution and couldn't be happier with the outcome. We found that the custom solution was much more tailored to our exact needs and allowed us to customize it to our exact preferences. It was quick and easy to set up, and the cost savings compared to Shopify made it the obvious choice. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking to create an e-commerce store.

It's easy to setup shopify with Google Merchant Center. Not to mention the extensions that help in SEO.

Shopify is a popular choice for many online businesses as it provides a range of features and tools to help set up and manage an online store. It includes hosting, payment processing, and other features that can make it a convenient choice for those looking to get started quickly. However, it may not be the best option for those who have unique requirements or want more control over their website's customization.

Shopify works pretty well for an idea like this. You can learn more about the features of this site in the article on Medium. I use this tool sometimes to create custom logos. The quality is top notch.

It depends on a couple of things. Whether you are a newborn baby in the e-commerce field or don't have enough budget, you should consider an e-commerce system like Shopify instead of a custom-coded website. Shopify offers substantial benefits to novice e-commerce enterprises over custom websites. Its user-friendly interface with drag-and-drop features eliminates the need for coding knowledge, allowing for quick and straightforward store establishment. This accelerates the launch process and is more cost-effective, with affordable subscription plans replacing high upfront development expenditures. Furthermore, Shopify's robust support system and materials offer valuable help to newbies. Shopify provides an accessible and efficient option for newcomers who value ease of use and a quick start in online sales.

Yes, as you said, we can control our own store. It mainly depends on our positioning and the categories we want to do. If it is just an ordinary product, the third-party platform may be better, with a large flow and more complete and mature in all aspects.

If it is some high-risk products, such as adult products, counterfeit brands, etc., we still need to use independent stations, such as opencart, wordpress etc. We control our own website without the rules of the platform.

I would advise against trying to build your own site as it takes a lot to get it going. Try selling your items on a marketplace like eBay Amazon and Walmart and SellerSpree.

I’ve tried both sides of it.
Started out with Shopify because it was supposed to be quick and easy, and it kinda was… until I needed apps for everything. Each little upgrade came with another fee. The design was decent but honestly felt limited unless you wanted to mess with code or pay for a premium theme.
Then I tried getting a custom-built store, thinking it would be next-level. And yeah, it looked cool and had more features, but it cost way more and took forever to get done. Plus, anytime I needed a change, I had to go back to the developer, kinda felt like I was locked in.
Eventually I switched to Sellvia, and honestly, it hit the sweet spot. It’s ready-to-go like Shopify but way more optimized out of the box. They build the store for you, load it up with trending products, and even help with marketing. No coding, no crazy fees, and it actually works.
For me, Sellvia has been way more beginner-friendly without sacrificing quality. It’s just smoother all around.

Shopify was a total lifesaver when I was just starting out. Super easy to launch, packed with built-in features, and no need to touch a single line of code. It got me up and running fast. But as things picked up and the biz grew, I started running into walls. Limited customization, API headaches, and those third-party app fees started stacking up real quick.
Switching to a custom-built setup was a game changer. Yeah, it took more time and cash upfront, but having full control, smoother performance, and tight integration with my backend made it 100% worth it. At the end of the day, Shopify’s perfect for getting your feet wet, but if you’re trying to scale and really dial things in, going custom is where it’s at.
