Google is first and foremost an advertising company at it's core. To sell advertising they created the best Search Engine thus far. Google doesn't make a dime ranking websites, in fact it costs them a lot of money to do. So, we need to make sure our sites costs Google as little as possible to gain better rankings. To keep majority share of search traffic and maintain a good reputation, Google must deliver quality SERP results that satisfy users queries and balance costs/profits for their shareholders. Ways to cut costs to benefit both us and Google: 1. Technical SEO- page loading speed, core web vitals, compressing page size/images, etc. 2. Correct site/url structures- this decreases crawl costs/information retrieval, a major expense for a Search Engine. 3. Establish Topical Authority- chasing random low competition keywords will not be enough going forward. One of the reasons old/large sites rank well, is because they've covered so many subtopics of their main topic, establishing topical authority over time. Google doesn't search millions of pages for a query, they have a subset of sites they reference first for the query. Those that have shown in the past to have great user metrics, thoroughness on the entire topic, those with the best site struture and lowest cost of information retrieval (Wikipedia for example). Google has a Main index and Supplemental index. Our goal is to get out of the supplemental index and into the Main index. When establishing Topical Authority you write everything on the topic, including subtopics that aren't profitable or have high search volume. Close the information gap on the topic. Establishing the most thorough Topical Authority can allow you to rank without link building. ***More on decreasing cost of information retrieval and establishing Topical Authority: One might think a website with 100 total pages would be cheaper for Google than a website with 1,000 pages, which may not be the case. If the site with 1,000 pages is built well, it would cost Google less. This is because this site (one source) can satisfy thousands more related queries (same main topic) than the 100 page site. This means less crawling/rendering/etc. It costs Google less to index fewer larger sites that completely cover a topic/niche than crawling/indexing 1,000's of sites chasing random low competition keywords with no site structure. 4. Build a Brand- faceless, anonymous websites will not do as well as. Google is looking for more transparency, openness, trust and to reward real businesses. Have the important pages like About, Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, Contact, Address, Phone Number if possible. E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authority, Trust) is becoming more important than ever before. 5. I've purposely omitted the very basics that get rehashed on here daily. I will expand on this post when I get more time.
Your post rightly emphasizes the importance of optimizing for search engines, particularly Google. Key takeaways include focusing on technical SEO, efficient site structures, and establishing topical authority. Mobile optimization, semantic keywords, and social signals are additional considerations. Building a brand with transparency and adhering to E-A-T factors are crucial for success. I'm eager to see your expanded insights.

In 2024, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is expected to undergo a significant transformation due to the emergence of new technologies and changing user behaviors. Here are some predictions for the future of SEO: Voice Search Optimization Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) Mobile-First Indexing Local SEO Content Marketing User Experience (UX)
You raise an excellent point - Google is fundamentally an advertising platform first, with search as a vital driver behind that revenue model. Given how expensive crawling and indexing the vast web must be for them, site owners optimizing to ease that burden can surely help rankings. As for a fresh perspective in 2024's SEO landscape, I believe we'll see increased prioritization on elements that directly enhance user experience. With AI and neural networks rapidly evolving, Google's comprehension of how sites satisfy or frustrate visitors is getting uncannily advanced. Some predictions on what that could mean: 1. Faster site speed requirements. Sub-second page loads will become even more of a ranking must as user patience thresholds keep dropping. Structured data enhancements and streamlined page builds will be vital. 2. Higher-quality unique content expectations. Ever better AI means scraping duplicate or thin content will face severe ranking hits as providing little user value. Useful, enriching information will be demanded. 3. More integration with Google's ecosystem. Optimizing for Discover and featured snippets via topic indexing, better linking those elements back to money pages etc. This strengthens bonds between Google products and sites/advertisers. I welcome your thoughts! My sense is that in 2024, SEO will prioritize shaping an outstanding end-user experience above all else. Catering to what visitors want and demonstrating that to Google will earn the visibility. An exciting evolution ahead for our craft!
