If you can't find a plugin, consider using a image sitemap generator desktop tool (e.g. A1 Sitemap Generator but you can try multiple tools to see what works best for you)

To generate an image sitemap for your website on WordPress using an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO, Rank Math, or All in One SEO Pack, follow these steps:

    1. Install and Activate an SEO Plugin: Log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to the "Plugins" section. Search for and install the SEO plugin of your choice (e.g., Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO Pack). Once installed, activate the plugin.

    2. Configure the Plugin Settings: After activating the plugin, you'll typically find a new section in your WordPress dashboard menu dedicated to the SEO plugin you installed (e.g., Yoast SEO, Rank Math). Navigate to the plugin's settings page.

    3. Generate an XML Sitemap: In the plugin settings, locate the option to generate an XML sitemap. This option is usually found in the "XML Sitemaps" or "XML Sitemap" section of the plugin settings. Enable the XML sitemap feature if it's not already enabled.

    4. Include Images in the Sitemap: Within the XML sitemap settings, look for an option to include images in the sitemap. Enable this option to ensure that images from your website are included in the sitemap.

    5. Save Changes: Once you've enabled the option to include images in the sitemap, save the changes to update your XML sitemap settings.

Generating an image sitemap for your website on WordPress.com involves a few steps to ensure that your images are properly indexed by search engines. Here's a professional guide to help you achieve this:

    1. Install and Activate a Plugin: Since WordPress.com does not provide access to third-party plugins, you'll need to utilize the built-in features available for creating sitemaps. Fortunately, WordPress.com automatically generates XML sitemaps for your site's content, including images.

    2. Verify Sitemap Presence: Ensure that your website's XML sitemap includes image URLs. You can verify this by appending "/sitemap.xml" to your website's URL (e.g., yoursite.wordpress.com/sitemap.xml) and checking if image URLs are listed within the sitemap.

    3. Submit Sitemap to Search Engines: Once you've confirmed the presence of image URLs in your XML sitemap, submit it to search engines such as Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. This allows search engines to discover and index your website's images more efficiently.

    4. Optimize Image Metadata: To enhance the visibility of your images in search results, optimize their metadata, including titles, alt text, and descriptions. Ensure that each image file has descriptive filenames and relevant alt attributes to improve accessibility and SEO.

    5. Use High-Quality Images: Utilize high-quality images that are relevant to your content and engage your audience. Opt for images with appropriate dimensions, resolution, and file sizes to ensure optimal loading times and user experience.

    6. Organize Image Galleries: If your website includes image galleries or portfolios, organize them into logical categories and utilize descriptive captions or titles. This enhances the navigability of your site and improves user engagement with your visual content.

    7. Monitor Performance: Regularly monitor the performance of your images in search results using tools provided by search engines or website analytics platforms. Analyze metrics such as impressions, clicks, and click-through rates to assess the effectiveness of your image optimization efforts.
By following these steps, you can effectively generate an image sitemap for your WordPress.com website and improve the visibility of your images in search engine results pages (SERPs). Additionally, optimizing image metadata and utilizing high-quality visuals contribute to a more engaging and accessible user experience for your audience.
