    Generally you can not use directory to drive traffics .... because mainly directories role is collect website links according to categories and earn some money by advertisement or by feature or paid links.

    According to me directory is a source to get many backlinks for low price or for free. Need to check directories links before submission because if directories are auto approving your submission means there will be lots of suspected links and avoid these types of directories for submission otherwise can penalized by search engines.

    According to me, if you are looking for submission in a directory platform, then local directory submission will work for traffic and backlinks, and I would suggest focusing on local directories for web promotions.
