    That totally depends on your product and your target audience.

    For example, if you are selling heart pacemakers to doctors, I seriously doubt your online efforts will generate many sales.

    Likewise, if you are selling toe-nail clippers to chickens, robins, and other birds, you are expecting those fowl to be able to read and understand your marketing message. Good luck with that.

    While I agree with Merlin, I would also add on the importance of taking the time to create a strategy that adheres to a realistic budget and has realistic goals.

    A few steps you could take to create this strategy would include:
    1. Set clear, measurable goals for your content
    2. Research your audience and create personas (it's also important to know who your customers aren't - so I guess that'd be called an "anti-persona")
    3. Perform competitor research (if you have a limited budget you really shouldn't try to recreate the wheel - I'm sure there are a few gaps in their content you can identify and take advantage of)
    4. Decide on the content you want to create (this will be influenced by your product, your audience, and your competition)
    5. Develop a content organization, creation, and distribution plan (once again pay attention to your budget)
    6. Execute, Evaluate, and Repeat
