When Nature has work to be done, she creates a genius to do it. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Who is the genius created in your own country?
    Thanks guys

Ernest Rutherford was probably NZs most famous scientist with David Lange as our most genius politician. "I can smell the uranium on your breath" from his Oxford debate is still well known enough to need no explanation amongst older folk.

he is still on the $5 but for all his admirable qualities I'm not sure that he'd meet @John Chibvuri's genius threshold.

Have you ever read any of his books? What a thrilling writer he was, he had a natural gift which cannot be taught. He also was a philanthropist and built a plane landing strip to help the local Sherpas gain easier access to food and supplies. He also built a school for the local kids not far from the base of Mt. Everest.

Tesla was not born in the U.S., so I would point to Edison and his work with electricity which transformed much of the world with electric power. More recently, I would point to Steve Jobs who transformed the world with PC's and smartphones.

One of those still living geniuses (like Elon Musk), but a way more hidden personality, is Christopher Langan. He has an extraordinary life-story, being a construction worker and a nightclub security guard. For me, like Emmanuel Swedenborg, he is one of those rare "spiritual geniuses" out there.

Ukrainians who are known all over the world for their achievements:

    1. Igor Sikorsky - invented the world's first helicopter
    2. Sergey Korolev is considered the founder of cosmonautics! It was under his leadership that the first intercontinental ballistic missile, the first artificial Earth satellite, the first manned flight into space and manned spacewalk were launched.
