    What will happen to millions of sites that depend on cookies to simply work? (Apart from third party advertisers). This part gives me hope that some cookies (or whatever they'll be called in the future) will continue to serve targeted results or make conversions happen:

    Now, Google is pledging it will not use other technology to replace the cookie or build features inside Chrome to allow itself access to that data, though it continues to test ways for businesses to target ads to large groups of anonymous users with common interests.

    No one can end affiliate marketing, I think there no alternative for cookies? how the webmaster will track his visitors and conversions? I think the above news is only to attract the visitors
