You might have to be carefull with adsense, they may see this as encouraging people to click the ads.

Congrats on making the news, I've been following the story for a little while on countless blogs. Where are you located? Looks like Toronto from the news network

As for your ads.. they don't seem to be related to Playstation 3s at all. You'd get a lot more clicks if your ads were relevant. Maybe work on increasing your keyword density for the words "playstation 3" and similar words you'd like to load up

How much of an increase in traffic are you seeing as a result of getting on the news?

I wouldn't worry about this, it kind of negates the whole spirit. Instead, get one sponsor to sponsor your hand delivery of the Playstation. A limousine company, private yet charter company or something like a travel agent and let them have ad space on your site in return. That would be win-win and in spirit with your efforts IMO.

I made a post on the Santa List 3 days ago and also sent an email. But I still get "Note: This listing is restricted to pre-approved bidders or buyers only.".
How do get on or know if I'm on the pre-approved list?

You have the word auction in there a lot, so e-bay type ads come up. Use the word playstation and games and that type of stuff more, and more relevant ads are likely to come up.

Congrats with making the news :)!
You might consider some other advertising methods besides Adsense as well,.. here are a few additional ideas:
    * Besides sponsers, you could also consider advertising for some affiliate or general pay-per-lead programs. Most of your visitors are likely interested in the PS3 (sorry, doh :p), and probably in the PS and console games in general. So just look for some corresponding programs and offers your visitors might be interested in at the various networks.
    * And talking about Ebay ads showing up: I haven't much experience with this, but considering the large amount of PS3's currently being offered at Ebay, you could also consider advertising some specific Ebay auctions. (I think Shoemoney has something in place for this at ShoeMoneyAds)

    Ouchs,

Consider putting two adsense ads side by side directly below the end of your content. When people read 'till the end, they want to go to more information. They'll see the links Adsense links and possibly click.

Also, I noticed that with my browser full screen, I had to scroll horizontally to see the whole page. This can be a little distracting.

Great job on getting news attention, though!

Those big RED menu buttons completely distract from anything you have on your website. Make them smaller and not red. "ick"
