Are Article Directories still effective fir posting articles and getting hits to a website?? Thanks in advance. Regards
Not as useful as they were in the past, but you can still get some backlinks from those websites. Links themselves might not be of very high quality, but its not a spam link from a spammy site. If some newbe webmaster is still using some of these sites to get content, and your article is average, then it can get republished, bringing more backlinks. Not everyone spends time and money coming up with new unique content.
@vna1611 Article directories is where you submit your articles, with a link in your signature. Those articles get picked up by others, they post it on their blogs. Its not as popular now as it used to be 10 years back, but still happens. Those are all links for your site.
Then why many leading article directory taking long time to approve and still user keen to live his article there like ezinearticles, hubpages, articlesfactory etc., in articlebase you can not submit contents directly but they are gaining good traffics and people are contacting to submit his article there. As i know if your profile is good at only ezinearticles, hubpages and you are active on regular basis there, then you can drive lots of traffics and get backlinks also. Now a days we should concentrate on quality of backlinks does not matter its do follow or no follow because if no follow tag then also search engines consider it as informative site otherwise why any Good DA website will share your link publicly? So still there are many benefits of article directories only we have to choose quality and well managed article directories ..... not like those who is accepting all contents without checking quality and duplicate.
@vna1611 He means that people are still using those popular article directories which he mentioned, and those websites have a long que of pending articles awaiting approval. Yes, those links also count, but probably their weightage is very low, extremely low. Nobody can say for sure, except google.
Thanks for the reply. If weightage of such links is low, why do people even post in article directories? And why is there a long Q in these websites, for articles to be approved? Doesn’t make sense. Regards
Few people says about it ...... does not means such links are not weight full. These links are very helpful to increase online visibility and popularity. This is showing that what is weight of links ...... and people are waiting for approval of his contents with his site link.
I think the owner of such dirs are just taking time to read the submissions to approve. This happens. I too once maintained a directory. My initial enthusiasm soon thinned. I was lazy to read bland content. The backlog was too much to bear. I ultimately abandoned the site.
@rangan Same here. I had an article directory in 2010. Hundreds of nonsense articles daily pending approval, I got fed up and shut down the website. Huge mistake...
That website was getting submissions at a very fast rate, and its been 10 years, it would have been a very popular website by now, could have done a lot of things around the core website. Spam was not the only reason why I closed that site. It was only monetized using adsense, and google cancelled my adsense account saying that I was showing ads on empty pages. Of course if an article got deleted then I showed the message ("article deleted, visit homepage for new articles" etc), ads showed on these pages too because the javascript was in template file (common for entire website) When google cancelled my adsense account, I found no other means to earn anything from the site, so I closed it at domain renewal date. AdSense was my only source of income at the time... I should have kept it going, could have found some other way to monetize it given the time. I shut down lots of my websites during that time, very big mistake...
