I've have often read 500, but I don't know that is really necessary. I do try to avoid having pages with just a couple of hundred words though.

Any count is fine. As long as the post serves its purpose. The word count doesn't matter.

A post can be 50 words long or can be 5000 words long. The main thing that you should keep in mind that whether or not the post is delivering the actual information that it is intended to do.

Agreed with mrb1129, it's doesn't matter how long is your content, the main thing is you should write properly about your product and make it user friendly.

    Hi,
When it comes to ranking a page organically, I personally prefer longer content instead of short ones with lots of keywords.
Lots of studies have been proved this till now that longer contents tend to rank higher in SERPS.
I post around 2000 words content every single time and I can feel the effect of it.

Let me know what you think about this?
    Thanks

It all depends on the type of page, huge amounts of content on some pages is just not require and becomes plain spammy.

Article type pages I would expect anything from 500 to 2000 words depending on the topic and how in-depth it goes, however a simple product page that sells an item on an e-commerce site I would expect a very low count say 300 words max. Contact pages, order forms, etc again are always going to have a very low word count.

As long as the page is delivering what the user requires that's more important than the number of words on a page.

Most of my skyscraper content is a good 1200 to 1500 words. In fact, I used to have two separate blog posts that were probably 500 a piece that I combined into one conclusive article with some extra information sprinkled in and went from 0 organic clicks for each page to around 1000 per month - not crazy traffic, but obviously shows the value of solid content.

That said, if you can easily get your point across with a simple paragraph, then the additional fluff can actually be detrimental as users won't want to dig through 1200 words to find the answer in some heading 5 scrolls down the page. Just think of a dictionary answer being a couple of sentences and you can see how content that fulfills the required purpose doesn't have to be an novel long.

For blog websites 300 to 500 words would be enough as long as you can give all the detailed information for the users that can be benefited for them there will be no problem with that.

To come back to the topic at hand, I think we can all agree that the number of words per page really depends on what kind of page you are creating. Personally, for non-blog pages, I like to stay at least above 300 words, yet most often write more. For blog posts, I usually don't post anything below 1,500 words and up to 3,500. My median is probably around 2,000 but there are also some outliers which are much longer.

I like Monica Paul's reply. 2000 words is preferable. In general there is no strong relationship between words quantity and ranking. But if you want to promote the page in Google Search you should analyse TOP 10 pages. For example if each page of them contains not less then 2000 words, that means you need at least 2000 words on your page.

In 2019 and beyond 2,000 words or more is recommended, nothing lower than 1,500. This is explained by Neil Patel, Brian Dean and others...

If you want to rank for a specific keyword you can know exactly how many words your page should have. Here's how to do that:

Search the keyword on Google.com. Open each of the top 10 pages. Count the number of words on each page (in their articles) and then calculate the average number of words. Aim to write that or more words.

So if every page has 1,500 words, then you should write a minimum of 1,500 words.

It would be ideal to have 2000 words or more in order to get ranked easily, especially for blogs. But really you hardly need any, it just depends on what you sell.

I just checked the last 7 articles I posted on my website. One was pretty short at 1,195 words. The other six ranged from 1,932 words to just under 3,000 words. These are typical of the ~470 articles on my website that, in total, draw about 1,000 clicks a day from organic search.

It is your blog so you can do whatever you like.
You can write 2 words if you want to but if you want your post to rank on the search engines, you shouldn't publish anything under 300 words.

Google wants to serve users with the best information that they are looking for. They also want to provide the user with a good user experience.
So google likes posts with lots of content because it is more likely that it answers all the questions users have.

You also need to look at the top competitors for your keyword and see how many times they use the keyword in their content.
How many words are on their Paige, How many images and videos are they using, and then make posts that are equally good or even better than theirs.

1k + words is a good aim to have because you will be able to rank easier a lot of times with less back links.
You also start to rank for all sorts of keywords that are on your page so you get more traffic anyways by writing longer posts.

You need to use content as part of your online marketing strategy, personally it should not be about how many words, but what experience are you giving the user. The better the quality, and the more engaging the better the interaction and volume of traffic to you. So basically I believe it is quality over quantity.

With the question of word count many experts, bloggers, and marketing specialists are confused. According to the SEO, What is the ideal word length for page content and this content also satisfies the user's search query perfectly.

Content word length depends on who your audience and what they search for. If they search for basic questions, the content will be less. The content word length of the home page and other pages do not the same.

Many experts recommend 300 words for the lowest word count in a website article. It will be 500 or 1000 word and its depend for satisfying the users query. On the other hand, the average article length for the first page of Google results is about 1,890 words.

Also, from a slightly different perspective, check what other blog posts are like in your niche, if they are giving good content that goes into 1000's of words then you need to ask yourself is 300 ok or should I be doing more? It's not so much how much words you think should or should not be used, bottom line, are you getting your message across?

It depends on your competition. Your content just should be better than every text on the first SERP. Only then you would have a change to achieve a good ranking. If the most pages are over 1000 words, you content should also be over 1000 words.
