Hey all members, Twitter has over million of users and is ideal for sharing your content and connecting with other influencers in your industry. What is your thought?

Ask yourself when was the last time you bought something because of a tweet, and you will answer yourself. :)

Yeah, it has a ton of traffic, but it doesn't mean it's the traffic that will convert.

The answer will be very different depending on the product or service that you are selling and your marketing goals.

    New Business:
    • If you're just trying to get clicks on ads on your site then there is a tried and tested system of creating a feed that publishes an image, video or gif every x hours on a particular theme - puppies, motor racing, fails - and then every 20 tweets will promote a page on the site.
    • Writers sell their books by developing a following based on their personality and opinions on their chosen field and then promote their book. The promotion needs to be incidental and not the point of the account.
    • If you're trying to sell a physical product or a service then you're probably using twitter to build credibility and trust rather than to literally sell.
    Repeat Business:
    • Get customers to follow your feed for the information you share about your product and you'd be more likely to get them to stay on brand when they replace the item or buy more.
    Customer Retention:
    • All the major news outlets - cnn, nbc etc use twitter to promote their latest content. That's marketing - making sure customers stay loyal to your brand and you can only do it by making sure they remember you, and you're there before your competitors
    • Gaming - while discord and the other platforms are the primary places to keep players engaged you'll find them on twitter too, nudging players to remember the game, to choose to play that game rather than some other.
Books - definitely, a couple of times a year.
    Anything else? doesn't happen

I definitely agree with sarahk: it's really important what you'd like to sell. And also, not being too salesy - Twitter if not the right network for that.

But Twitter can be quite influential when it comes to building brands and building awareness for products. My recommendation is to develop a hashtags strategy so you can benefit from getting your tweets in front of more people who are actively looking for something. Another strategy would be tapping into the power of influencers. For some products (like books since this was mentioned before) this strategy could be very useful. Also, you can use the website called Twiends to discover more people whose interests match your area of interest. The platform can help you get a few dozen followers with interests to match your products.

If you're marketing a blog, there are several Re-Tweet accounts. Many of them have several thousand followers and you simply hashtag the RT (i.e. #mondayblogs, #rtbloggers) and they will retweet your article out to their followers. The vast majority of those followers are likely other blog authors who have merely followed the RT account, but since many bloggers are also avid readers of blogs, you can get some fresh eyes on your content. Sometimes those fresh eyes (if they're bloggers) might even be your next backlink.

Pick a Proper Username. Become a Listener. Socialize and Respond. Tweet Usually. Maintain Tweets Short. Mention and Re-tweet Other Others. Generate a Content Plan.
