    Join few adult forums and be active on them by posting helpful threads, you can also trade links or can buy banner adverts on relevant websites for targetted traffic.
    All other options have been discussed already....

    You may do article submit for your site, can do directory submit or you can do forum or blog comments to relevant site.

    Advertising on other Adult websites would be the best option and the traffic will be targeted around males... Also build up networks with local Bars to sell direct services and advertising on your website.

    For free? I did this years ago. Create a traffic trading website, then use that traffic to promote yours. I had so much traffic, I sold it to dating websites. No affiliate programs.

    Upload videos to the major tube sites (pornhub, xvideos, youporn, gotporn, xnxx, etc) and include a link to it... also watermark the videos before uploading them...

    Reddit and Twitter are also HUGE traffic sources for me...Tumblr for sure as well - but that's getting increasingly shakey since the NSFW ban...

    There are a ton of new Tumblr Replacements now - newTumbl.com has gotten me a bunch of traffic, there is Pillowfort.io and a zillion more...I could give you a list if you want

    People always have asked to promote adult sites without paying their marketing models but unfrankly this way cant bring a good result.
    So, only promoting in cash may be ad sources building the rank.

    As for Adult sites, those ad networks seems to be the most popular promoting Adult sites. those also are many forums that more free to promotes links. and you can talk over there more about selling and buying traffic to your website.
    That all depends on how much time do you want to spend search on the free trial.. I guess the easiest way will be buying traffic for lower cost such using push for promoting, the push referring to commission with networks and they are relatively for users. my list of ad networks for traffic adult are: Pushyads, Exoclick, Traffic junky

    There isn't one best way to promote your Adult website! real result should be after using all marketing ways :
    Email promotion, Social marketing, video channel, referral links and also buying traffic from ads networks sources. there are many websites who use Publisherpick to get all the budget in one ticket
