Basically they are same, you can use unlimited bandwidth. Unlimited mean no limit. Unmetered mean they don't measure how much you use.

The only difference(s) between the 2 is Unlimited is not possible and is just a advertising gag, and unmetered does exist somewhat but with unmetered there is no charge overages but there is a physical limit on how much you can use like bandwidth.

'Unlimited' is not real (like FreeTheNoob said, marketing gag), because there's no way any NOC can offer truly unlimited bandwidth.

Depending on what market you're in (shared, dedicated, etc) 'unmetered' either means they simply don't monitor your bandwidth usage, or (usually in VPS and dedicated server ads) it can mean the server has, for instance, a 10mbps dedicated/unmetered line vs. a 100mbps line with 4TB limit.

In the reality, it is hardly that anyone will fully-utilized their disk space or bandwidth. But when they were told they get unlimited, they feel gr8 :) and buy from the company.

Like everyone says, there is no such things as unlimited bandwidth.
Unmetered is just meaning that your bandwidth is not measured or monitored, so you don't have to worry about overages, but it has a hardware limited such as 10Mbps, 50Mbps, 100Mbps uplink port.

I agree with most. If your site explodes with traffic, they will make your site offline. So they say this thinking most people can not drive explosive traffic to their website.

always ask is there a cap on Speed or Bandwidth throttling
It is a reactive measure employed in communication networks to regulate network traffic and minimize bandwidth congestion.
