Here are few web design trends you should watch out for:
    3-dimensional illustrations
Here are few examples of websites using 3D illustrations:
    • Acko
    • Campoallecomete
    • Stripe
    Overlapping design elements
    Examples:
    • Mad.Studio
    • For Hers
    Bright Gradient
Here are few brands that have already integrated this concept:
    • Apple
    • Symodd
    • Impossible Bureau
    Creative and bold typographic
    Examples:
    • Melt Candle Company
    • Prime & Fire
    • Janne.me

Yeah, those are definitely things to watch out for. They clearly are all slopped together by artists under the delusion they're designers, and JavaScript junkies who are about as qualified to deliver content to users as a five year old is to drive deliveries for Domino's.

What with every single one of those pages being aggravatingly useless, difficult to navigate, agonizingly slow loading, flipping the bird at accessibility minimums, and utterly devoid of anything remotely resembling quality content of value. That they are universally ineptly coded by people unqualified to write a single line of HTML? Classic.

Definitely goofy half-assed ineptly developed artsy-fartsy trends to stay away from. Thanks for the warning.

Yeah, those sites are TOTAL junk. The ONLY POSSIBLE useable one is Prime & Fire.

Take a gander at these landing page screen shots:

    acko.com >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_1_acko_com.JPG

    campoallecomete.it >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_2_campoallecomete_it.JPG

    stripe.com >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_3_stripe_com.JPG

    mad.studio >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_4_mad_studio.JPG

    forhers.com >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_5_forhers_com.JPG

    apple.com >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_6_apple_com.JPG

    symodd.com >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_7_symodd_com.JPG

    impossible-bureau.com >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_8_impossible-bureau_com.JPG

    meltcandlecompany.com >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_9_meltcandlecompany_com.JPG

    primeandfire >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_A_primeandfire_com.JPG

    janne.me >>> http://mmerlinn.com/z_junk/junk_B_janne_me.JPG

HTML was INVENTED to deliver CONTENT. As you can see, MOST of these DO NOT DELIVER ANY CONTENT WHATSOEVER, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the "designers" of those sites are INCOMPETENT PARASITES.

Most of these web sites I am not familiar with... but I can tell you that regardless of what the internet super geeks will tell you the garbage junk designers who created Apple's and Stripes web site certainly didn't cost them any sales as they are insanely profitable. The user experience couldn't be that terrible...

News flash, Apple is reporting losses across multiple product lines (computers in particular) and failed to meet profit expectations, and have been on a slow decline in both company value and sales for about five years now. 2018 and 2019 have been disastrous for their stock prices for a host of reasons... and online sales is in a slump, making them more reliant on their stores, their incompetent in-store staffs, and trying to use the in-person sales to "upsell". "You need a dongle" being the crApple equivalent of "Do you want fries with that?"

Whilst much of that can be blamed on their continued shoddy manufacturing practices, artsy-fartsy design-over-function decisions, duplicitous lies to the public... and possibly even the fact that Jobbo the Clown's reality distortion field is wearing off; but their loading the site down with dumbass animated crap, massive images too large to be practical on a website, and flipping the bird at accessibility and usability can likely be blamed in equal measure.

It's like from a web design perspective they've forgotten the very thing -- flat design -- that put them on the list of sites to use as an example of doing it right. The company that started the trend abandoned it, and in the process have harmed themselves more than they realize. Much like their products they are again putting form over function, flash over substance, and it's going to whip around and bite them the way it did before Jobbo's "triumphant return" to the company he was kicked out of.

There's a reason even many dedicated crApple fans -- aka former cultists -- are asking questions now. The current site is just one of them.

But again, they really want to abandon their niche of being for "professional artists and content creators", now bound and determined to be nothing more than a consumer goods company for people who have way too much money and far too few working brain cells.

...which has nothing to do with their web sites.

No. Apple is at the point where you already know their products. You aren't casually landing on Apples web site to discover what they have for sale.

No the site is not just one of them. No one is complaining about their web site. It's just you and like minded tech individuals who will land on a web site then view the source to determine if their product is crap based on the HTML code they use..... lol.. no one does this.

deathshadow, I'll buy you a virtual coffee. Well said. Now 'designers' don't code anymore, they use sitebuilders and all the crap for lazy people to deliver sites that need an era to load and are so filled with junk it's impossible to find the content anymore :D

Aka the willful denial reaction, since in terms of crApple and my objections you'll notice I didn't once mention the source code. I talked about how slow loading it is, the accessibility woes, the poor overall navigation, and difficulty of accessing anything remotely resembling information.

Also fun how you mated it to the "we're too big to have to explain everything" -- same bullshit Circuit City played when they came to New England in the early '90's, holding a "tech job fair" advertising for "technical and marketing professionals", then getting pissed off when they got technical professionals instead of people looking for cashiers, then only further losing their shit when asking "We're circuit city, don't you know what we do" and 99% of those who showed up going "Never heard of you" -- almost as if their next nearest location was half a country away or something.

Apple releases new models... sometimes... I guess. It helps to be able to go to the site to figure out what's actually new on them and what the options are WITHOUT having to start the buying process first. As if we're supposed to magically want to start navigating four pages deep to buy one without even knowing what the model options are.

... and if they're so huffing concerned with people knowing what's for sale, maybe they could actually list that in an organized fashion and market it on product merit, instead of page after page of sleazy fly-by-night marketing scam stock photo's of happy people rich people at picnics or artist c-g renditions of what the products MIGHT look like. Or worse, having a "find the best mac for you" link buried three page-scrolls down with no queues to even tell you it's a link instead of a heading for YET ANOTHER stupid pointless stock photo.

All whist having thrown accessibility and usability out the window.

Which ARE complaints I'm hearing a good deal about their sites the past five years, and I'm hearing it more and more -- when AGAIN a decade ago when they went "flat" they had become the go-to site I would even point people at on how to do things right; WITHOUT even talking about the underlying code! Without even looking at their current code I would reject their site on accessibility, usability, functionality, and marketability grounds.

Sad for a company that used to be the king of marketing and propaganda. Their current generation is dropping the ball JUST as hard as their hardware side has been, or how it's becoming plainly apparent that their ONLY interest is in maximizing profit per sale to the point they're willing to sacrifice the company's future for it -- JUST like many other companies coasting on name and reputation of the past decade -- k-mart, sears, toys R' us -- have been thrown under the bus for a quick payout for a handful of executives and "investors". The new corporate raiding: buy up enough stock to gain enough control to get "your boys" into executive positions, so you can bleed the company dry as a quick guaranteed payout, rather than "risk" long term investment in the company's future.

As much as I rag on Jobs, at least he had a vision and stuck to his guns. Without Jobbo's leadership it is becoming painfully clear that Apple is going to be bled dry by "shareholders' in just a few years. "Idiot's guide to destroying companies for profit".
