Better to have 1 trusted relevant link than 10 non trusted links.

Easy answer. All things being equal on the 11 total links (relevancy to your topic, non-pharmacy gambling, etc.), get the 10 PR6s.

There are two major three points.
    1) What is number of OBL {outbound links} on these pages {<50 are acceptable}?
    2) These webpages have relevant content to your website?
    3) They will sustain their current PR in next update ? {backlinkwatch can reveal something}

If answers are in yes for all then PR8 is 50 times more suitable. :)

hehe this is interesting. I tend to agree with Mong - PR8

MrX and Mong can you backup your claims?

    Mong assume everything is equal.

    for pagerank better buy pr8
    for seo/ranking, buy 10 pr6's
relevancy has importance too, but the anchor text is more valuable for rankings

I agree with the last people to post here: go for the 10 PR6 links. They may not up your pr any, but they are 10 votes from likely trusted sites, versus one vote from a likely trusted site. Less risk if you spread it out, IMO.

It does depend on the popularity of the sites... now if your site was a video hosting site and your PR8 link would be on youtube.com. That would certianly be better than 10 PR6 links from sites recieving one billionth of the traffic youtube does.

This is a good question, but looks like the answer is kind of devided.

But one point all made for sure is to go for Relavent links.

My personal openion is to go for PR8 site if you can get a good site to link to you. But it is very expensive to get a link from a PR8 site.

You got to be lucky or you got to have a good PR7 site making good money.

    Thanks

The thing with that one PR8 link is that if and when google finds out that it is payed, the value of the link is gone (if it doesn't also send you traffic). With 10 PR6 links (not bought at the exact same time, preferably), the chances of them all being found out as payed is less - spread risk.

I would go for PR6 only for one reason, PR6 sites have tendency to go PR 7 or 8 or 5 and PR 8 has tendency to go PR 9 (I doubt 10 - there are very few) or 7 or 6. So you have more chances of your link showing high in SERPs. And if your link is long enough till next PR update your site might get a good PR value too (off track - and then you too can sell text link space). ;)

Very good point. If you get the 10 links, you have 10 opportunities for those sites to continue growing into a PR7, PR8, etc.

It's ok, but as some of the SEO have said, PR doesn't matter
