How to: transparent letters and solid glow in logo

    Let's say I have two letters from a crtain font "M" and "V" and I want to create something like this.

    Can someone point me, please, to some tutorial on how to do it.
    Not sure what expression should I search to find tutorial that will guide me.

    This logo looks like its designed from scratch and not by using any specific font.
    Its suggested that you first sketch down your idea of the logo and later design it using adobe illustrator. You will have to use shapes, lines, etc. to create such logo.
