what is nofollow and dofollow links?

nofollow and dofollow are special link parameters that show search robots whether this link should be considered when ranking the page containing it. The nofollow parameter indicates that the link does not need to be considered as inverse when calculating the reference weight. The dofollow parameter, in turn, allows the search robot to index the link and take it into account when ranking. If the nofollow parameter is not specified, the default search robot considers the dofollow link.
From a technical point of view, setting these parameters looks like this:

Do-follow links- Doffolow is HTML attribute to tell the SE crawlers to crawl and follow the particular link. Do-follow link passes the link juice or the value that helps in the ranking. The link juice means the value that the webpage has on which you created the particular link. The trusted and well-known website by the Google has the more value.
No-follow links- No follow links mean not to follow and not to pass the link juice to the particular link. Someone said above no-follow links are still followed by the search engine but it is not true, nofollow links are crawled but not followed. These links help to generate the traffic to the website and also important.

If you just focus on the do-follow links and will build only dofollow links then the website will be considered as a spammy website or penalized for the spamming. The balancing between both links are important.

 

Do follow link – DoFollow links are links that count as points, pushing SEO link juice and boosting the page rank of the linked-to sites, helping them go higher in the SERPs as a result.

No follow link – A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page’s favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs.

I don't think there is "Do follow link" exists in reality as links have "follow" or "nofollow" attribute.

 

Nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct search engines bots that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index.

If a search engine finds a “no follow” backlink it will just ignore the link and will not get deeper into crawling and no link juice is passed.

So “no follow” backlinks are not important in terms of search engines as it is not crawled. The comments section mostly have no followed links. But that does not mean that these links are useless. You can still get some quality traffic from these also.

Do-follow links: Do-follow links are highly recommended for SEO purpose because crawler will index the links which are do-follow. Once the do-follow link is indexed, it will improve the rank of the website on search engine.

There is only no-follow. And there is non no-follow which are considered as do-follow.

Do-follow link is the active one, clicking on which you'll be redirected to another website. It has more weight than no-follow one.
Some website don't accept do-follow links and when you post a link it's seen like a common text so users should copy it and paste in search field.

 

If you build nofollow links then link juice will not pass but if you build dofollow links then link juice will pass. Passing authority from one website to another is called link juice. Your domain authority and page authority will increase if link juice passes from high authority site to your website.

 

No-Follow links means link juice is doesn’t transform to other sites to your site. Do-Follow link means link juice is transform to other sites to your site. These links are very helpful to your website ranking position in SERP.
