    Could this REALLY be true?

If you had done research, then you would have found the answer...
Mark Z. rejected the idea a few years ago...

Facebook Would Be TOTALLY INSANE To Buy Bing. Every few months, the rumor crops up that Microsoft is going to offload its money pit of a search engine, Bing, toFacebook. ... Then, the New York Times reported that somebody from Microsoft brought up the idea to Mark Zuckerberg last year. He rejected it.Apr 25, 2012

It will be waste of money for Facebook and there seems no benefits for buying Bing.

To be fair who uses Bing? It used to be a cool alternative, even Yahoo is dying slowly.

I'm not sure of anyone who uses Bing but apparently after a long and expensive (multiple billions) run, Bing is profitable and has been since around 2016. In terms of revenue it brought in $1 billion in 2016 so there must be some people out there using it... Just not sure of any :D

Back then it was growing quite a bit actually. I'd love to find some more recent articles about it though.

Bing is of no good. So Facebook need not buy it.

You should not be surprised as we have a really large planet full of diverse people. Some people like this, some people like that, so I am not really surprised, I know people that use Yahoo only and no other search engine. It does not matter what you think about bing, since people actually are using bing, and some may use bing, and nothing else, and to me it does not matter, if bing, yahoo, or using some other engine besides google brings joy to their life, then so be it. People will use what they like to use most.

Even if Facebook buys it, Google will remain the first.

It is not a good investment.

That's very surprising. I am starting to hear more and more people starting to advertise on Bing. Seems to be a good alternative to Adwords.

Well, those who are new to search engines would probably end up using Bing. It won't die. There will always be new users and that would be the first search engine they would use since Microsoft defaulted their Edge to that search engine.

Also, don't underestimate Bing, sometimes they can find sites Google can't. I try it sometimes when Google fails to provide the result that I wanted.

I couldn't imagine Microsoft giving it up even though it doesn't do very well. I see Facebook doing some sort of new level search that involves profiles.

While it isn't my preferred search engine Bing has apparently been successful in the eyes of Microsoft. It is generating them a healthy profit and holds a chunk of the market. I think for them it is doing well and so makes no sense for them to sell.
