What strategy do you use to rank for Keywords?

Say you wanted to rank for a certain keyword how would you strategize to rank for that keyword?

 

I will try the long tail versions first only if available.

 

The same question here. I'm also looking for link building strategies that we could work for 2018.

But as of now I am using Skyscrapper, Curation, Guest Posting and local citation.

 

The top ranking content always had more links than the lowerranking content on any given search engine results page.
