How to release my url to allow someone else to use adsense?

I sold my site so I need to remove my authorization to allow the new owner to open an account.
however, i also have some other sites so I can't just close my account. i thought i deauthorized it, under the manage sites tab, i unchecked the verified button and checked the only run ad codes on verified sites. but the new owner is getting the error that the url is not available for signing up. any ideas?

Isn't there an option to delete site instead of un-verifying it?

you would think so but i didn't see it. I also can't just delete my ads. there's no option to remove them.

Did you remove it from URL channels too?

yes, there are no url channels listed.
I am getting the alert "In the past 7 days, your ad code has appeared a significant number of times on sites you don't own. To avoid lost revenue, make sure to add these sites to your verified sites list in Site Management." which might be the issue. My codes are still on the website but they haven't removed them yet as they want to just replace the code with theirs.
