Where is good to get new clients?

    Hi,

I'm an English native writer looking for more work. Where's the best place to offer my services?

I've signed up to the likes of Fiverr and Upwork, but it seems those sites don't make it easy for new sellers.

Has anyone had success with other sites?

    Thanks

Anywhere but here. This forum has declined so boldly. I see people looking for $3/500 articles and it just makes me sad. I still don't understand what people hope to accomplish with such cheap content. Do they honestly think it's going to make them money or bring organic traffic? Asking for a pathetic $2 per 100 words on here is like pulling teeth.

Also, those freelance sites are a joke. I'm sure people have success with them but you'll face the same thing most people do. You'll end up competing against penny chasers to pay for your next meal. Private clients are the key to surviving when it comes to freelancing in any market. Not places like this or Upwork.

As a teacher in your local school classroom. You get to mentor 30 some new potential clients in every class. Over time you would have more clients than you could ever possibly write for.

You have not mentioned your years of experience .
But I consider you do have fair amount of experience.
If you have no idea on how to get new customers, I can guide you a bit.
    1. First you will have to create a personal portfolio of yours showcasing your expertise with examples & client testimonials will add value to it , so you will have to create a website to place your portfolio (if you don't have one already)
    2. Write Articles on highly ranked sites like Ezine Articles & other forums.
    3. You can also post your ad in Craigslist Services / Job section
    4. Post your ad in other Tech forums similar to DP
    5. Have you contacts both Email & Phone clearly visible to your target audience.

This way you can get quiet a few clients without spending much , but you will have to work hard & put in effort to do all the above .

Once you do a decent money , then try going with paid marketing that may yield more business to you.

    Hope this helps :)

I wish you all the best !!

Find popular blog and contact them offering your writing service. These kind of sites need content on regular basis.

Clients who are experienced do not go to *Content Creation* forum. Rather they come here to gage as to how a writer writes. There are two relevant threads on this page. One has over 200,000 views, the other (my thread) has over 100,00 views. These threads are the ones that clients go to. I advise you to post on both if you wish to be noticed by clientele.
However if you can't write a coherent sentence without grammatical or spelling errors, don't bother.

There's a glaring spelling error in a previous post, but damned if I'm going to correct it for the poster. Thanks for your info., by the way.

    The first is obviously
    https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/how-do-you-write-when-youre-not-in-the-mood.2434625/
Great topic, easy to find, and the replies there show that how the posters' grammar usage and their dedication to the craft of writing.

However, I question the utility of the second thread with 267,000 views and only 32 replies.
    https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/havnt-havent.1152572/

What is a client supposed to get from it? Havn't(wrong)/Haven't(correct) isn't a very common conjunction to meet. It's one amazing necro thread, but because of that looks like it will need to be closed since the issue is solved. Any more would just be spam.

Now if only we could see the timeline of views, we could tell when that thread decided to go viral. Was it in the 2008-2009 period, or recently in 2016?

    Here are a few ways:

Do a Google search in a niche and pitch via email.

Share valuable content and add them into your marketing funnel.

Ask a business that you visit if they need your copywriting services.

Search local business directories and pitch them.

Find the clients on Upwork who have plenty of good reviews and are willing to pay well.

It is true that Upwork or Fiverr is not a easy place for new sellers. Competition is too high. As you mentioned that you are a native writer, I suggest you to try other sites like http://www.lettemwrite.com/. All writers have to prove themselves in competitions, before they can take direct orders. Every new writer starts in the feather weight class. If you have won enough contests, you get access to more lucrative competitions and direct orders. You can earn up to $45 for 500 words article.

Upwork is a good place to get clients. However, you'll need to strategize. For example, don't just state that you are a writer. Niche down and state that you are a writer who specializes in green energy. It's always better to pick a niche and you're likely to appear in search results too.

Problogger job board is another lead. The jobs are few but quality.

I would either recommend you to search for blogs, which needs author on constant basis or there is a possibility to become writer and to write articles from scratch for some essay companies.
