It mostly affecting sites with maximum numbers of single page ads or pop-ups. Few more known effects of this update is on non-mobile optimized sites and sites with bad backlinks.

The new google algorithm update 'Fred' appears to put a higher emphasis on link quality.

Google is targeting low-value content links and PBNs, at least that’s what they say all over.

As far as I see Google Fred update was 'due' long time.

Too many people were just using 'low' quality PBN to rank their sites. By low quality PBN, I am referring to those PBN which were solely built for backlink purpose. Most of the sites using those kind of PBN, experienced 90% traffic drop after the Google Fred update.

Does that mean our site blog too? We use it for promotional purposes. Don't we?

The links from irrelevant blogs and forums will be penalised by new update( All these are low quality)

I see a drop on my friend's website which had too many tags with almost no new content. And he was publishing many very short blog posts. I already said him to stop this in the past but now he learnt his lessons.

Google Fred update target low quality content, I have noticed a obstruction on one of my website on 08th March, which could be measured as a result of the update.
