Favorite Sports?

Well hey guys this is my first official thread and I figured it would be an appropriate topic on what sports you like since 3 out of the 4 North American professional sports are currently active right now (Hockey, Baseball and Football) I really like baseball and hockey but I prefer hockey the most because of how loyal the players and the league are. So man of the players do amazing things and PK Subban of the Nashville Predators donated a few million dollars to a children's hospitiall before he was traded which is really special in my opinion. What is your favorite sport?

So we're talking about watching, not doing?
Get ready for the influx of cricket votes!

Personally, I get bored shitless watching sport, the irony of sitting on your sofa watching other people being active!

When you're watching the best players compete, it's like a game of chess. It is extremely entertaining. It is only boring to you because you're a casual fan.

One of my earliest memories of people watching sport was an ex All Black watching a game his son, a current All Black, was in - only it was a delayed telecast and the dad was jumping up and down and yelling at the TV like he could influence the game. My husband is no better. I just don't get it.

Not long after I moved to the UK the vast majority of the coal mines were closed down and the country was in mourning. The following weekend there was a footy match with one of the teams sponsored by British Coal and the fans still wore the team kit with the sponsor's logo despite the national outrage at British Coal. The fans appeared to be blind to the ethical dilemma.

And then I don't get the blind support of professional teams that draw their talent from beyond the region. I reckon fans should reassess their loyalties each season based on coaching and player selection etc. It's unreasonable and illogical to support a team purely because they come from your city.

I had a dust up with a woman one day whose husband was an Assistant Coach for the Warriors. She was complaining that the current management were being stung financially with penalties because of something that happened the previous season and that the new management shouldn't be burdened. She'd obviously missed the memo that companies don't get to wipe the slate clean just because they make some HR changes.

I do enjoy watching ice hockey, the skating is inspiring, but we only limited footage and it appears to be focussed on the fights and not the talent.

Well that's the thing sport is more of a business these days, and the teams with the most cash to spend typically win. Just look at the English Premier League and who's winning. i.e. rich clubs like Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, etc. But you watch it because on any given day any team can win.

No point in players showing loyalty anymore when the clubs don't return the favor. I am a supporter of the Wests Tigers in the NRL, and the way they treated one of our long-serving players this season was hard to accept.

But if you do have an interest in any particular sport, the best way to get into it, is to follow a team. Personally I can be interested in games as a neutral fan because I just love certain games like football (soccer) and league, but I think if you're just getting into it, that's probably the best approach.

Alright, I'll bite. My favorite sport has been, and will always be.... baseball. The crack of the bat; the roar of the crowd. There is no sport quite as thrilling to watch -- especially in the Postseason.

Marbles tournaments for adults (not the child game :) ). It is a perfect sport because is a lot of about strategy, psychology and you can win big tournaments in any age.
