3 Solid Tips to Help You Write a Great E-book

Whether you want to earn royalties from your e-book or use it as a free incentive on your opt-in page, you'll see the best results when it's properly written. People don't only judge an e-book by its cover--they judge it by its contents. They'll judge you by its contents which could make or break whether they view you as a true industry expert on the topic.

There are some things you can do to help you write a great e-book. Here are three tips to start out with, and I invite others to add even more in the comments...

1. Plan out your e-book before you start writing it. Put together a draft of your book in point form (which will become your book's table of contents). Who are you trying to reach? What do they want/need to know? What points will you to cover in this e-book that will help your readers/subscribers the most? Really think this through and figure it out before you start writing. It will save you time in the long run.

2. Stick to topic matter you know well and that you're already passionate about. This is especially true for the newbie writers and affiliate marketers out there. If you choose a topic you're unfamiliar with just because you think it's a popular niche that will sell well, then you're going to struggle with your content ... and that's going to show through to your readers. They'll see right through it. But if you're already passionate about the topic you've chosen, you'll be able to write about it more easily (not to mention more genuinely), and you'll be able to produce more value content for your readers/subscribers.

3. Always have your work proofread/edited by someone else. Nobody can edit themselves. Nobody. Even the best writers use editors/proofreaders to help them polish their work because they know two sets of eyes are always better than one. Two brains are always better than one.

Make sure you use illustrations and images to break up the text, especially if you are penning a book in the how-to category.

 

These tips are basic, but a lot of people forget these, thinking that time is more important than quality. That's why they write without thinking and proofreading and just put it out there. Of course we know where it's headed.

You need a great introduction to hook the reader. If your intro is boring, why would anyone want to read the rest of the book?

4. Please, I beg you, be a native English speaker (or at least live in an English speaking country for 20 years) before starting an e-book in English!

Some affiliate marketing e-books I tried to read were written in a language @Agent000 refers to as "word salad".
