I do freelance work and services online such as SEO, VA and PPC.

I have been making money working from home for almost 9 years now, but I often see people struggling with these items from newbies:

Finding legit/free options
Making enough money to live off of
Knowing how to spot a scam
Marketing
Finding their niche

 

A common struggle for newbies is most likely on how to get a reliable client or legit work without having to dive in to the lowest rate when it comes to service charges.
While not all online employers are doing it, there are many others who will take advantage especially if they knew that you're still new to the business and that you're still trying to build up your reputation as freelancer.
That being said, many newbies are getting unreasonable pay regardless of their qualifications and quality of service outputs.

 

I'm no newbie, but let me bring you back to the time when I was one.

When I first worked online, I started as a writer. I've tried joining a popular website where they hire freelance writers to write content for them, and it was an awful experience. During that time, we were so underpaid and clients steal our work. Good thing it has somehow changed now, but still, the issue here is writers are underpaid - they don't get the pay they deserve, and clients seem to like this setup.

Though there are websites and private companies who are willing to pay you fairly, there are still lots that don't. I feel sorry for those who are starting in this business; they think that they get what they deserve, but truth is, they don't.
