Can we do something with those post whore?

I found this post whore problem is going out of control.

There are more and more post that have no values (at all) popping up all the time

    check out this thread.
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=199244

how many post add value to the thread? At least half of the post is like "Thanks", "great resource" "blah blah blah"

In most forum post whore are just people with no life...but over here they do it for reason (rep whore and padding count post so their sig got higher value).

I know i can report to mod...but..too many people are doing the same and it is getting out of control...

In a 1000 member forum moderators could penalize, or give an infraction to such users, like I do in certain forums.

But in Digitalpoint, it's just too large.

3-4 moderators can't doo al this. Just my opinion.

And from my 2+ (almost 3) years here, I can say that those ocasions are very rare.

Most of the people that write here, at least write content. Not that they are always right, or that they say good stuff, but 99,98% don't put just "great".

That 's not mod's fault. I understand that..

all i can say is - If you are post whore, stop being a post whore. If you find a post whore, report a post whore

You can always thank a member via a PM. I know we all have been taught to thank someone from the cradle - why FTT (failure to thank) brought warnings/infractions from adult family members. :)

Well, it's just how do you see it. Post whoring exist in every single forum i have ever been.
Now, i don't know here, but in that specific thread, the guy shares a resource and everyone says "thank you". At first sight, all that "thanking" it seems useless. But think about this: Guy A posts a resource. Guy B is looking for that resource. Unfortunately, Guy A makes the post 20 hours before Guy B logs in, so the thread is now baried at the bottom of some forum.
Thanking makes the thread to be up there, to get it popular, so you don't think it's uselsess because nobody answered so it might be crap.

    Just a tought....

'post whore" ? wow, that's a new term to me :D

well, it's a problem that you have to live with since it's going to be too difficult to moderate against... at least it's not as bad as the spam i get in my gmail ;)
