Don't go for paid backlinks as one day Google is going to penalize the website selling Guest Blog posts and your website as buyer will also be penalized.

Very difficult to do - such blogs (if their good) will be traffic monsters and will not allow spam - again read up on what a Content Management System is... and how it blocks out spam.

Such quality/traffic sites guard against spam to protect their content quality.

Very risky to penalise websites that house huge content and that sell adspace, if it happens, such sites will never buy Adwords or other PPC services. Besides such ad selling sites have their own
audiences that are more than enough to sustain them away from Google and others. Go out there and do searches, just see the amount of niche engines, portals and booking sites that exist, then contact them, get traffic figures and costs to advertise, then stop using Google. Google cannot clean up the web, without deleting its index, penalising is no good as it wont stop such sites as their too big and powerful on their own.

    Content is still king.
It is best for good back links.
All others will just provide temporary results and on the long run, can be detrimental.

Content maybe king - but the cheap blogs/sites that 99% of kiddy adult webmasters own, are non-starters, too late in the game to succeed - so any
content plans are irrelevant, as they'll never get of the ground. People and companies have moved on from the junk sites of the old web -
theres new and targeted sites available at reasonable cost, that's why the old old 10000 b2b directories are now defunct, Yell and Thomson are
classic examples of greed and failure, Thomson fired a load of staff, and was lucky it got investment, but the b2b directory wars
    were over years ago.

So any major link plans are also pointless, as such minor websites aren't worth linking to. And the mid-level directories won't serve the likes of silly
webmasters anymore, as its too much hassle and no money in it.

I get your point. Content will only help if you are planning on the long run.

It takes pretty much time to stand tall among other authority sites

Content is one thing, you could have a site with 2000 pages (an okay starting point) - but you got to promote the thing, and likely 200k of wanabee webmasters think its just about the amount of content
then the world will link to you, just cos you have a bit of content - they won't!! - not when the idea sucks.... If the idea is bad, then drop it and think of something else.

You need the right sort of website to begin with, then you need masses of links to drive the traffic to get known/popular, and even then
its damn tough to stand out. You cant wack up a site these days and think its job done - you must constantly sell sell sell.

Links are very helpful - ofcourse, but that's just a quarter of the promotion any good site needs. Once you have the good idea, you wont need to worry about getting links,
as other sites will link to you for free - but only if you own a great website, and that requires a great, new idea for a service.

Well. I doubt the forum will call you a spammer, as they like to convert you to a Enhanced memberships, but yes, you will be perceived as a spammer, as many links are cheesy,
and every webmaster tends to chase the same style of links, well their are a lot of webmasters see.....
