Woocommerce or Shopify ?

Discussion in 'eCommerce' started by imza86, Oct 27, 2016.

Hi, i have a website buybuy.sg done in WooCommerce but there are times i encounter problems on it when wordpress updates and there will be errors with the checking out and so on.

I have been told that it is better to use a real eCommerce platform like 3DCart, BigCommerce or Shopify if i do not want to be constantly chasing my tail and having to deal with a shopping cart that is broken a significant percentage of time.

What say u guys ? Is Woocommerce a bit disadvantage because it is in Wordpress? Therefore it is not a "real" e commerce platform ?

    Thanks!

    I don't think so,

Woocommerce is a great platform in many terms, But need to have some technical knowledge to keep it running, as there several aspects you have to take care of yourself. For that reason its Better, if you don't want any hassles.
Yes Shopify is great platform in terms of flexibility, but I come to down to same conclusion, Both are great platform, if you what you want exactly.

Please do if you need type of Woocommerce assistance.

    Happy to help.

    Thank you

I would add a third option to this list, a service called Browuse. It is a solution created on the basis of Magento, but it simplifies its usage and provides automatic Magento installation and website theme installation (there are smth like 30 website themes currently available plus their color variations). Also, they offer website hosting, redirect of the created store to a custom domain name, unlimited amount of stores and emails.

I cannot add links to my posts yet, but you can google on your own and find it.

I recommend Woocommerce if you want more flexibility and you would like to save cost. You have to devote sometime though in maintaining your site.

Whether you will need shopify or woocommerce will mostly depend on the type of ecommerce store that you are hosting. At the same time, you can't ignore the fact that shopify is exclusively made for ecommerce whereas wordpress (woocommerce base) is a mainly blogging CMS. Due to that there are certain advantages of shopify in ecommerce. However if you have strong knowledge on wordpress, you can opt for woocommerce too.

I would stop taking advice from anyone who says WooCommerce is not a real ecommerce platform! WooCommerce is much more flexible, customizable and cheaper than Shopify.

I'd prefer woocommerce because I can do whatever I want with it while it's on my server and on my wp installation but people who just want a ready product to start a shop in a few minutes, I'd say a big YES to shopify. It looks good, it works fast and you just upload your product and you are ready to go, it even handles your payments just everything is ready for you.

Shopify. Although it might seem a bit expensive, you can find many tutorials on how to handle well... everything

If you have the technical knowledge know-how in Wordpress set up, then I will recommend WooCommerce. Otherwise, you should consider the Shopify, the hosted solution.

Shopify is a bit expensive. But you should choose it because you love your business and serious about it. You should choose Shopify Because it will do top 3 things for you :

    1. Very easy customization, store and product development .
    2. Shopify store by default attracts more customers.
    3. You will find very much effective plugins like "Oberlo" and " Xpert" .

    :)

Shopify. It is fairly easy to use and set up, no coding required and the learning curve is shorter so you can start selling asap.. More apps to help you scale up like Importify and Editorify. Also, it's easier to set up, I used this free guide to build my store- from adding products, up to marketing them. https://www.importify.com/starting-dropshipping/
