Like the others have said, at 18 you may not have experienced enough to tell an interesting story. But you may want to talk about other people's experience. Interviewing others to get their story may be the way to go. Depending on the theme of your blog, get the personal story of your family members, small business owners, successful Internet marketers, religious leaders or what ever.
Interviewing people gets you human interest stories, and that is what your readers want to hear (you can make an article, a video recording and MP3 for a podcast for example). Get the video content out there on YouTube, Flickr, Vimeo, Veoh, Tumblr and your articles posted in the social media. Later you can turn your articles into an ebook and give it away as a downloadable free gift to get subscribers. One guy was so poor and wondered what was the secret of people who became millionnaires. He met one in a marketing event. So the poor guy asked if he could interview him. He had prepared some pertinent questions so the millionnaire asked him if he wanted to be introduced to his other millionnaire friends.
He went from one interview to another and finally got enough content he could turn into a book called The Secret of the Millionnaires. Now he no longer is poor...

Really, age matters not. Tons of successful 16-year old YouTubers and Instagramers. It depends on two things: content and traffic generation.
    1) Content is always the most important part. You must be sure that things you share on your blog will be interesting for someone else. If there is a target audience for your content, then you might succeed. If there is no such audience, it will be a waste of time. After that, if there is such audience, then you must generate content. Regularly. Even if you are tired, wanna sleep, wanna waste your time on smth else. I know many successful bloggers on YouTube and it's a real work to do, and, yes, it takes a lot of time (it may compare to doing SEO). And I know many people who tried but failed, cause they didn't see 10000+ followers after a couple of months.
    2) If you have content to share, you probably want people to find it. And here you need traffic to successfully promote your unique interesting content. Otherwise, the world will not know about your interesting blog. And, by the way, generating traffic is not less work to do, than content. And it can also be money-consuming if you can't do it all by yourself.

Devil is in the details. So it's better to think about your blog in details.

I would say see if there is a more specific niche you can start out in, but part of it is how much time are you going to invest?

Really once you get it going it might not take much time, so honestly I think it would be worth it. if you think it will stimulate creativity, go for it. keep in mind if you build a trusted following, you can easily recommend or create products / offers.

If you want to try and make it popular, you have to have some sort of really unique or interesting, or funny content, but thats up to you, otherwise it could still be a good project.
