Quora is better then Yahoo Answer. You can share your learning and give your inputs regarding any topic you want. You can also use it for marketing purpose but you have to be relevant regarding the topic other wise it will not work.

Quora is great because you can get really extensive answers from many different points of view. You can raise awareness about your services trough Quora but you need to know that it takes a lot of effort and it takes time before it gets going. You need to be active on a regular basis and try to provide answers that bring some value and differentiate themselves in some way from other answers. It helps if you or your business have a blog so you can sometimes provide a link to that blog if the content of the post covers a specific question.

Quora is a cool q&a website. Yes, you can promote your products and services on this website as many of its users do. But you’re expected to post relevant answers that provide value to users. A mere advertisement doesn’t do this. As with any other type of content marketing, you should focus primarily on providing quality information, and only then on posting a link to your own website. Otherwise, your answers will collapse due to downvotes.

Quora is normally a question answer site. There are different niche and threads on which you can ask the questions and an get the answers too. It is best as one can get a variety of answers for a single question and can select from the available alternatives.

Quora is a platform where you can answer as per your expertise and get views and upvotes.
You can not use Quora as a social bookmarking site.
The best use is to write blog on quora related to your technology. Write answers for quora related to your niche services.
If your answers get upvotes, it becomes instant famous on this platform and you are become known and most viewed writer. Then other questions are being asked to most viewed writer every time.
In this way, you can create your brand on quora.

Totally agree it has huge potential, but cracking it requires that you provide real helpful answers without blatantly marketing. Although, I have seen some really thorough answers that included links to ebooks or blogs that were cited ("I wrote about this in...") as personal works by the author.

Final note: I miss Old Yahoo Answers. hahaha

It is a medium of back links. Quora is usually for more intelligent people who like to learn or have questions and be satisfied

Quora doesn't give you any backlink, it can be helpful only in the way to get traffic.

I like Quora. You can ask questions, submit blog-like entries. I even see some professional writers include their Quora profile in their resumes.

Hi, Quora is a lot like Yahoo Answers (Question and Answer Board) but usually has brighter people. I wouldn't go around trying to market on it though in fear of getting banned..if anything when you see a relevant question that your product or service could address I'd answer appropriately and guide them in the right direction.
