wbb and others exist because hollywood and the music industry are yet to come to terms with the digital world. They continue to try and run their business like there was no internet and cry when the internet bites them. They need a new business model where they stop paying too much to hack actors etc., pay more to good writers and reduce the price of the product they sell to meet the market.

Yes they have entered the digital market, but at retail outlet pricing. They could sell movies and music direct for a tiny percentage of what they try to get for it and would make huge profits, but they still try to get big prices and look what happens: they sell some and lots are shared. I would buy movies and music digitally if it was a couple of bucks and I bet the majority of people would too. I already spend money and time to get warez stuff, so getting it direct at a real price would work. Since digital streaming services have reduced the cost of pay TV/Movie access many people have moved to them, if they get even better, why download what you can have for $10 a month.

Yes many will still look for warez, but some people do because they can, it makes them feel important or whatever, but you couldn't make that old mix tape without sorta doing the warez thing, it was copyright infringement if you gave it to someone. There will always be a bit going on, but the idea it to get the masses to buy it. So make it cost effective to buy it. It is time they stopped price gouging.

BTW: Hollywood was founded on copyright theft, so they deserve what they get. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_Picture_Patents_Company

Now why is wbb still up? Simple it hasn't a high enough profile for them to bother with. Torrent sites and file lockers are what the media and joe average understand so they are hitting them to try and scare everyone else.

Warez sites will be shrinking daily, and when I say shrinking I mean FAST. There are already hundreds of hosting/torrents sites been removed by the authorities and more are hammered every day. It is only a matter of time. The way the warez suppliers get around this is to either buy a domain and host in countries such as Russia/china/panama etc or to start an encrypted and hidden forum. Even stuff on the dark web/hidden web can be taken down as we saw with silk road.

Shrinking in qty at the moment, but not disappearing. They tend to go through cycles like everything else. Also some older sites that you may think have gone are still online, they have just become members only sites where you cannot join without a referral from a current member. Just like the file locker sites that closed or were closed down by the authorities others have sprung up to take their place.

Lately torrent sites have closed down after the KAT closure. They went after KAT because the site was highly visible and the owner was making mega bucks off the sites traffic and that revenue really belongs to copyright holders and money is what gets them moving. File lockers will be attacked again because they make a profit from hosting copyright material, but as long as they delete files when notice is filed and they don't be as silly as megaupload staff they will stay in business. On the other hand forums that don't advertise themselves and do not profit from their traffic will live on in the background even if they have to change their identity now and again.

The Dark Web is not immune as Silk Road showed, but again this enterprise was working outside the law in arms and drug trading and more. The Dark Web is only hidden from bots etc, anyone can go to dark web sites if they have the ip addy, nothing stays hidden forever, especially when you have arrested someone who was using it.

Warez websites and torrent sites might share the same ethical dilemma, but they are far from the same from any legal standpoint of any country.
The reason is torrent sites are the only legal entity involved since the file is shared between users, whereas whereas sites point to another legal entity hosting the files which relieves blame from the warez indexer because you can say, well if you didn't allow that upload, the violation would have never occurred. You see, they say the same thing with torrents except the torrent indexer is the only entity, if you wouldn't have indexed the file, the violation would never have occurred. Thereby, the legal blame falls to the implied hosting site, in warez this is a host not the warez indexer, for torrent sites the implied host is the indexer.
So they should stop building torrent sites, and build more warez sites. It also follows that warez sites are a lot harder to take down, so for every 5 torrent site take down, there may be one warez take down. For warez, they have to use other legal tricks specific to the country which is why some warez sites are invulnerable and others can be taken down very quickly because some countries care and others do not. Hong kong is one of the countries that does not care. After all, odds are the majority of intellectual property stolen will not be theirs, and when it is their it falls to the hong kong business to sew and at that point the legal procedure would be to request the site to remove the index and the host to remove the file. Warez site will comply with demands of its own country to avoid legal pitfalls which leaves the business to make money either off the host or the user.

Warez is garbage...It's Just making the already bad economy even worse! Let me post just a couple of notable facts about warez in general:

    1. You void your warranty on script support (those who download illegal scripts)
    2. You slow down or stop the growth of application development

Those are the top 2 reasons you shouldn't have / condone warez, it spreads like a wildfire! Please prevent warez, it's not good people, especially those two above points!

So many script and application developers are following point #1, so even if you DO purchase a legal copy, but condone in piracy/warez, you will be so sad you don't get the support you might desperately need for that particular script, even if you paid for the support for it. Developers are / have been cracking down on warez/piracy.

Just my 2ยข but I think it's very important to understand why they are cracking down like that.

If you are still alive today, you see the result of sharing warez. Doesn't life really suck in that kind of a way?

Just don't get caught with a virus, it takes it all away in seconds, probably the RIAA or the like, but its' still illegal to have warez. I say delete it and accept it for what its worth.
