Is Directory Submission is still working?

Yes, of course it's working. Just be sure that they are RELATED, they do NOT have thousands of other websites (apply if only they are NOT auto-approved!)... Also don't forget that submitting to more than 5-10 directories per day is not a good idea, go slowly!

 

You can find in the forum a list of directories that others have already suggested. You also can use the search tool to find them.
If your site is approved from the top 5 directories, then you would have a very good return. Remember that it can be disproved. Submit in a proper way in the correct category. The main ones that you can submit according to my suggestions are:

yes Dir submission still working, but we need to work on high and quality pr site and dofollow sites only and submit daily maximum 20 links only for a site, after submission keep checking for approval if they approved within week,its good and carry on submssion on this type of sites

 

Directory submission is working if you check the directory first then submit the link. Do not submit the directory which is spam and make for only ads profit by the admin.
Do not submit the reciprocal linking and also paid linking. Use regular free linking.

I agree. Places like Foursquare or the Yellow Pages or maybe Manta would help. Stay away from sites that load to slowly and have too many ads on them. That's a sign they might not work for you.

You're probably right about that, except Foursquare is both a social media site as well as a local listing site, and so is Yelp btw. There are others like the YP though. And Google Places is also a good one.

There's a number of directories which do work and actually very good for you... I've seen a few websites having a decent ranking by being mainly listed in business.com and yahoo.com directories.
Just think for yourself... Yahoo take your money and review your site but don't guarantee the inclusion as they will only list quality, manually reviewed sites. So it just makes sense for google to credit those listed websites as they were reviewed by real people before being listed. It's just like yahoo direcotory doing an anti-spam job for google.. for free

 

Yes, i think its work but make sure that the websites you are using for directory submission should be high pr, not too much ads running and not contain more than 100 links otherwise no use of doing directory submission or bulding backlinks.

 

It does still work, but it doesn't work like it used to back in 2008. What I personally do is find a handful of trusted, high quality directories and submit to them. I also make sure they are indexed in search engines and offer dofollow links so they pass link juice and help with ranking.
