I got the impression that you were stating in your previous post that only AOL staff can work on the software itself but I accept our explanation that that you only meant the hardware. Are you stating that the present "server" problem is a hardware problem and AOL can not replace a computer or a piece of hardware in 2 months?

Without a doubt, DMOZ has been in decline for some time now.
Change is needed, not just to the programming, but to the whole statement of purpose, and interpretation of that purpose.

They have added the adult to the main section so may be the new purpose is to openly claim the role of leading directory for illegal and underground porn. It is so hard to find good porn on the Internet that there is really a need for a "quality" porn directory like DMOZ, the only problem is that even DMOZ porn links are outdated and 1 page affiliate doorways.

I've heard information that gworld is in the process of buying DMOZ. This was told to me about 2 weeks ago and the person(s) saying this was quite certain of his/her facts. Not a doubt in his/her mind. I won't reveal my sources but if this is true, then gworld is certainly in a position to know what's going on in DMOZ. If he buys it and wants it to be an adult directory it will be. If he buys it and wants to remove adult completely, then he will.

So, I have two conflicting sources of information... one is DMOZ itself and they say we will be back. The other wishes to remain anonymous says gworld is buying it.

We already know what DMOZ says will happen. Further speculation about what AOL is doing is repetitive and boring.

If gworld is buying it and he started this thread maybe we should just be quiet and wait for his announcements. Maybe he will be so kind as to tell all of us what he knows and what he plans on doing. Curious minds want to know.

Even when repeating it again ("They have added the adult to the main section"), it does not become true, so what is the reason here? By now you should know what I personally think about the "porn section". It would make sense criticizing the "porn section" like you do OR the technical problems the ODP is having at the moment. Switching forth and back between the same arguments IMHO does not help to clarify any of these.

Darn I knew I should have made at lest one porn website, maybe it is not too late? How about "Women of DMOZ" in cooperation with Playboy magazine ;) I better not say anything else or I might get removed from somewhere. :D

To prevent being named a male chauvinist "Men of DMOZ" would follow as soon as finish gym, although popotalk could probably keep interest of female audience for months all by himself. ;)

Hmmm... I have a serious problem with this.

How do I have my site removed from DMOZ?

Nah. that would just push me to the front page, and most likely to three dozen unrelated categories for a good measure (depending on the bribe amount)...

According to a meta "We don't delist sites on demand."...

That is only if you pay the bribe to the "senior" editors in disguise of SEO work, just an offer to all editors will get you banned since the senior editors don't like the other editors try to take over their business. ;)

A bribe attempt should do the trick. Trouble is, we'll have to put you on our waiting list, editing is down right now.

We're waiting for an official statement from either AOL or gworld...I'm not sure which. He didn't deny that he's buying DMOZ, did he? So in the meantime, just blame gworld, it's easier to get his attention. :D

Hm, very high "queality" websites, and that one that is the best:
    http://www.bollywood-ringtones.com/ :D

Dmoz is now a shit-dir for me...
They do not accept sites from people that try to earn some legal cash by internet and they do not accept their sites but porn yes.

If you enter any of the 2 adult directories i own by using google search box you will see dmoz pages within that quarry. Dmoz and Sublime are the biggest in the adult Directory field as far as i know.

    thx

DMOZ has always been big on illegal and underground porn sites. You can say that DMOZ is the authoritative directory for rape, torture, bestiality and all other kind of illegal porn. ;)
