    hello,
I have purchased a premium membership. I have bought a web hosting company http://blackcows.net/ and I'm not able to post it in the service offer section because the domain it was listed by the previous owner on your forum. Please remove the url from your database so that I am able to post me service offer.

    Kind Regards,
    Farhan.

Hmmm... blackcows.net isn't a site listed in Digital Point Ads. Are you sure that is the domain?

That has nothing to do with Digital Point Ads (where you posted this thread). It's not possible to have two threads for the same domain in the Web Hosting area.

can you please delete that ad(url) from your database because:
    1. I do not have access to that account of the old owner who posted that ad.
    2. I cannot post my web hosting ad in the web hosting ads section because it gives me an error that, that url is already listed on your forum.

Please think from my point of view, how will I be able to post an ad with that url?

that is what I am trying to tell you. I want to post an ad with the url http://blackcows.net/ but your system is not allowing me to post an ad with that url. Please do the needful(whatever is required at the backend) so that I'm able to post an ad with the url http://blackcows.net/ in the ads section of the forum.

I want to post an ad with the url http://blackcows.net/ . What do I need to do? How do I go about posting it?

please remove the old url from the Web hosting area so that I'm able to post the ad with this url.

    Right, as it should be.

Correct, so it's working as designed.

You won't be able to. The system intentionally only allows one thread in that area for each domain.

It is not a bug or an accident that the system works that way. That's exactly how it's intended to work.

    You can't.

Just like a random user cannot remove or edit your posts, you are not able to edit/delete other user's posts on this site.

Correct. One thread per URL is allowed.

@farhan713 is asking you to remove the url because you have the power, of course regular users cannot edit other user posts but admin can do it if he wants to. I think the real question is: do you want to remove the thread under the circumstances mentioned by @farhan713 or not?

No. The "circumstances" are not unique. He wants to post a thread about a domain that was already posted. Just like a different user can't come along and request his threads be deleted, he can't request other user's threads be deleted.

I'm just wondering - if the previous owner wants to, could that owner log in, and request the thread be deleted, thereby freeing up the domain for another post?

If it violates our rules, someone can report it (doesn't matter if it's the original thread starter or not) and someone will look at it for rules violations. But one can't delete a thread even if they started it if that's what you are asking.

do you mean to say the domain name can now never be listed in the advertising sections?
    thats unrealistic and unfair.

The old owner does will not update the thread
and new owner cannot post it.

What is the solution to post the domain in the advertising section.

You should have a system in place to take care of change in ownership of domain names when you say a domain cannot be relisted in advertising sections.

What is the solution to promote the url in the advertising section now?

Please resolve this deadlock situation and relax ur rules for the situation in context. Think from the users point of view please.

I agree that this is a ridiculous policy.

Guy A owns a website, he posts it in the advertising section and makes $200 in revenue.

Guy A sells the website on the Digital Point marketplace to Guy B.

Guy B likes the strategy of selling private advertising on Digital Point.

Digital Point says no, since Guy A already listed it.

How does this make even a little bit of sense?

It's along the same lines as banned users sale listings still showing for sale.

And me being stuck with this stupid red box for all of eternity through no fault of my own:

Domain listed by Old Owner Not Able To Relist For AD.png

I love Digital Point, but I wish you could resolve these little nuisances, for the sake of the users that are paying your bills.

It's easier said than done. If a domain isn't sold on this site, there isn't a way for the system to know if it did or didn't change hands. Having a different user account certainly doesn't mean it was sold. The whole point of the existing system is to prevent users from creating duplicate accounts to repost stuff again and again. If you have an automated way that the system can verify a domain or business changed ownership (when a domain wasn't sold here) please post your ideas about how that would be done.

I'm not referring to your individual case, I'm referring to the bigger picture.

There isn't a manual override on our end... meaning an entire framework would need to be built, and as part of that framework, it would need a way to know if a business or domain changed ownership (without needing to do anything manually/by a person).
