    Jpg, gif and png etc whatever images you want, you can use for your website all formats have same image in the eyes of Google search engine but, Googlebot can not read images and videos. Therefore ALT tag must be placed for any images you have on your webpage, give them a relevance title that is best for SEO.

    .jpg or .png format is SEO friendly according to the Mozbar. if your image size is 2mb then your website take more loading time where 100kb image size's website take less time for loading website. so image size is very important for your website.
