My product with global customer base is sold on myproduct.com. Product is a generic name and a competitive keyword. Many websites have added suffix or prefix to it. Now, I want people from different countries to search my product with their country name and find myproduct.com. Which of the following URL structure is best suited for that ?

    i. myproduct.com/?country=countryname

    OR

    ii. myproduct.com/country/countryname

Why the unnecessary second part of the URL? How about myproduct.com/usa or myproduct.com/india, or usa.myproduct.com (less preferable to use a subdomain)? There is no need for myproduct.com/country/usa. Your script can determine which resource is called by the value of the second parameter without the need for the second parameter to indicate the resource/route (unless you are using a CMS or hosted platform that requires it).

It is generally accepted that using query parameters in URLs is less preferable to using search engine friendly URLs (SEF) when possible. In your case, it is very possible to use human readable URLs without query strings to indicate country-specific pages.

Thanks for your response. Actually, though I gave example with one parameter, I might need more than one parameter in reality, i.e. instead of country, an European user may search with currency as well, where the URLs will be as follows...

    i. myproduct.com/?currency=EUR

    OR

    ii. myproduct.com/currency/EUR

I don't like them both... But when talking about the currency.. Of course the 1st choice is much better.. This is a GET parameter for PHP, isn't it? Of course it depends on your code ;)

when your are not aware of URL structure, follow the leader. Apple has its own brand present in many countries, they follow this structure
    - Australia - .apple.com/au
    - USA - .apple.com/us
    - India - .apple.com/in

so i would suggest to go with this module which is quite successful - myproduct.com/us, myproduct/us/california, myproduct.com/us/california/san-diego

    Hope your query is resolved

Generally speaking, when it comes to international SEO / international targeting, it can be largely divided into "language" targeting and "country" targeting.
Then there are three different types of URL structures you can use depending on which targeting you want to do.

Language targeting example = a site that gives option for English / Spanish without considering which kind of Spanish (Mexico? Spain? or other kinds?)
Country targeting = consider language as well as cultural

For language: sub-folder would be a good choice.
For country: country code top level domain (ccTLD) - this gives the best local signal
The there is the sub-domain structure but it is like dealing with an additional site so not recommended but it is an option.

Now, when it comes to your question, the static URL is better.
But based on what you described, it is not very clear what kind of targeting you are really going after.

Choice 2 is better, for the purpose of pretty link, and take away redundant keyword.

animal(dot)com/1234/post12/ - this structure of url has no information to the audience and also not optimize for search engine.

animal(dot)com/dog/pitbull - but this structure of url defines particular page of the site which defines great user experience.

There is no need of using "country" in the URL. As someone else mentioned, you should try:
    Myproduct.com/countryname

    None of them.
Sorry but you don’t have to use the word country in your URL. You can make it looks like: myproduct.com/countryname
