Remote backups service?

Discussion in 'Site & Server Administration' started by DomainMagnate, Mar 18, 2015.

I'd like to find some kind of remote backups service to backup my site files and databases. It would have to be pretty big, up to a few TB's of data most likely. This is to protect in case of my server getting hacked, or suffering some kind of hard drive or mysql failure. So I prefer if it's independent from my hosting company.

Can you recommend something similar? thanks

You can get a cheap dedicated server, low ram, low processor and high disk space, you should first tell us your primary server location, you can take a look [ ovh - hetzner ] i think will be good for backup server.

that might work, but how would it run the backups? I'd need that server to connect to my main server daily and backup things..

    If you are using cPanel/WHM
WHM > Backup > Backup Configuration > Additional Destinations > FTP > Add your ftp account
If not using cPanel/WHM tell me what's control panel you are using it should have automatic ftp backup if not have this option you can made this process via script.
Anyway, i can help you :)

I think i can help you understand what exactly needs to be done.
    1) You need r1soft license single agent in case you need to take backup of 1 server.
    2) You need another vps/dedicated server on which these backups are stored.

Usign r1soft agent you can define the frequency of backups and number of backups to keep. With r1soft you can also do real time backups .

If you need more help or understand let me know. I will help you out.

You can also just subscribe to a pre set up R1Soft service. That may be easier

You can always setup a server at home or like somebody said most R1Soft plans have space.

Take a look at Amazon S3. It is also integrated in the WHM backup configuration if you are using WHM.
    http://aws.amazon.com/s3/

Also, if you are with OVH, you can increase your backup capacity.
