It's an individual decision of course, but I'd never go to somewhere like Elance to hire a copywriter. It's corner-cutting. Good copywriters don't hang out there looking for work, mainly because the work comes to them. Just my opinion of course, but paying a few $ for an article isn't going to result in a satisfying, tangible return.

Copywriting is an investment, not an expense.

 

I had the same problem, so I created a solution myself. It's all about discovering who is reputable before you order from that writer.

 

Unless you have agency or direct marketing background augmented by an existing network, Elance (or rather, Upwork) is probably the best place to start building a portfolio. And the pay's not too shabby either - there are clients with budgets north of $10,000. I've even seen a few copywriting agencies bidding for projects there.

 

I would say iWriter. You can give them your job and the writers will do articles for you. You get to review them and choose the ones you want to pay for.

You should hire content writer from elance, I also hired from there and she is really good.

 

I actually started out as a writer, and went into marketing and SEO and teaching. At that point I needed a lot of quality content and I still do. I get mine from need an article.com. It's good quality and its reasonably priced. The sales text is outstanding and quite frankly the owner of the site stands behind it. you can get revisions and whatever. They even seo the content and it goes through copyscape and proofing. I liked it well enough that I have been a client since 2007 and a writer since 2009. LOL. Tjhere have been a couple issues, sure, but for the most part. I'm really happy with their work in a way that I am not with some of the huge content mills. I think they have like 50 writers or a few more and they are all US based now. Once in a while you get a clinker but they fix it every time. anyway. food for thought. Happy Tuesday.
