Usually Google is ignoring the Meta Keyword Tag. You can keep two to three keywords in your Meta Keyword Tag.

Depends. WordPress only allows 156 characters. I usually keep mine between 140-max.

Meta Keywords is ignored by Google these days. Focus on Description and TITLE (most important).

Some of the other SE's crawl the KW, but Google does not. I've only used the Meta description for the last few years.

If you care about Bing and other search engines it might be worth adding meta keywords. Otherwise as many of the answers said Google doesn't utilize it for the ranking.
As far as number of character goes, it's important to make it no spammy and keyword stuffing. So 3 keywords would be a good number to aim for.

Everything I have read indicates to keep it under 124 characters. Although google apparently ignores keywords, other search engines do not. Therefore, I believe you should continue to use them.

Besides, I believe it helps keep me organized and on track in terms of SEO to use them consistently across all my webpages....I think consistency is the key
