The Google sandbox refers to a commonly held belief that Google has a filter that places all new websites under restrictions for a certain amount of time to prevent them from ranking in searches.

Google is unattracted to spammy backlinks. If you use something like scrapebox or other software and spam a bunch of blogs for backlinks you will get sandboxed quickly. I usually do my backlinks manually and slowly (20-30 high quality links) per day and let them build that way.

I donot think the sandbox only affects the ranking of some specific keywords, if a results are from top 10 and suddenly takes a decrease to out of 100, that domain gets serious issue, when checking the avarage from google analytics, if a down side begins, its time to check the offpage task, penguin or panda would occur to the whole domain.

Google Sandbox is an imaginary area, where less authortative and new sites taking place while they are popular and authorised on the web.

As we have been introduced on real time bidding on mobile, I believe it will soon spread into other areas such as desktops

It appears that my forum is sandboxed, as only a single url has been indexed; however
the forum appears to be indexing in other search engines just fine. The domain has been
setup for about a month now; The forum was recently installed (within the last week)
maybe it is just a matter of time before the posts are indexed, not really sure...

I certainly do not believe sandbox exists, I have domains that pretty much prove it. I have done a lot of research into this, and had new domains outranking 9 or 10 year old domains with very very similar content

Even with great content, abundant incoming links and strong Google PR, a site is still adversely affected by the Sandbox effect. The Sandbox acts as a de facto probation for websites, probably to discourage spam sites from rising quickly, getting banned, and repeating the process.
