Think local. Does your local library, grocery store or other such place have a community bulletin board that you could post flyers on? Do you have a small, local weekly newspaper that you could run a cheap ad in? Local radio ads can also be quite cheap and might be very effective for your business.

How is your business signage? Women driving by your establishment are your prime prospects. Talk to them with your signage.

No sense going beyond local advertising/promotional efforts because your members probably have a very small radius to be drawn from.

    What they do in NZ
    • Small signs on spikes on verges by motorway off ramps or major intersections
    • 2 for 1 intro deals
    • active facebook pages with hints, inspiration, recipes
    • active Instagram/linked in/pinterest
    • radio advertising
    • newspaper advertising
    • coupon advertising for discounted trials
    • flyers at local daycare centres
    • visible presence at selected events - fun runs, mud runs etc - use your existing membership to promote you
oh, and offer a creche for some sessions - word of mouth will work wonders if you do!

Well, you can attract clients via Social Media. Register accounts, engage and this will be a kind of promotion.

You can use social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Reddit for marketing. Also, invest in Facebook ads, it will catch attention of many users in your surrounding area.

I do not think any one-liner from a newbie without any actual experience in promoting offline business will do better than detailed answers Sarahk and jrbiz gave above. Not to mention these oneliners serve only the intent to get 3 likes and receive access to Marketplace.

Guys, please, write something relevant or don't even write anything at all.

p.s. I have no experience in offline promotion, but I think the ideas from Sarahk and jrbiz are awesome and should be followed.

Very good suggestions here, you can use all of these or part of them as tactics and they are mostly free or very cheap. Take a look at Snapchat as well. Short videos and illustration has proven to work fantastically well with new generation. Its target audience is 13 to 21 and if you can utilize that then it would be a good option.
    Good luck.

Oh also do you have like a website or something? share it with us

You need a Facebook page with inspirational quotes, beautiful images, recipes, advices, updates about the news from the gym. You certainly need a website with a blog and some awesome, helpful content. I would go for Pinterest too and promote this certain lifestyle including exercises, wellness tips and recipes. This is great for Pinterest and women love it. Instagram account would also be good option, especially if you have some special activities. Target your audience on Facebook and boost your visibility from time to time. Awesome thing to do would be to contact some of your local popular magazines or newspaper to write a column for them on regular basis

As a rule of thumb, ANY business and/or product can be marketed through:

    - Mission/goals
    - Who are one's customers?
    - What do they want?
    - What do they value?

So for your marcoms, try local papers, TV/radio, magazines. Or hairdressers, or anywhere in which women will see it. I say hairdressers if they specifically cater for women.

For digital, a website, Facebook and Twitter can work. Youtube and Instagram would be very good, as it can better convey pictoral points.

E-mail lists are excellent for your business model.

I'd also suggest getting a social media mgmt. app, like Hootsuite. It's not that expensive, and you can send all messages/photos from one place.

A great way to start marketing your small, women’s only, gym would be direct mail. You’ll be able to narrow down your target audience and direct your campaign specifically to women by using target mailing lists. You can even narrow your mailing lists down by factors such as annual income, zip code, and age.

To-date, PostcardMania has already helped 1077 businesses in the fitness industry. On their website, there are case studies with details about the types of campaigns they ran, the types of mailing lists they used, and the results they received. The case studies might help give you a better idea of what to expect when you do select a marketing technique for your business.

    I hope that helps!
