    Hi all,

i like to know if it's hard to convert a SMF forum to a vBulletin forum. At the moment i have SMF installed and i am planning to convert to vBulletin as soon as i have ~500 members. (then my forum is usable ;))

    Any experience, advice

    regards

It works alright if you use the vB supported import scripts. I just converted a SMF to vB a week or so ago and it worked just fine. There were a few hiccups but it wasn't that bad. There is a bug in the script right now though that does not import PM's or avatars but vB is aware of it and apparently is fixing it. I didn't see that as a big deal though and I went for it without waiting for the fix.

PM me if you want me to do the import for you and we can work something out if you like. :)

Thought I might aswell bump this up rather than start a new thread...

Is there anymore information on migrating from SMF to vBulletin? I have an established forum using SMF and I'm going to be purchasing VB at the end of the month. Any help or advice would be appreciated :)

I know this is an old thread, but I see that nobody suggested the solution for SMF to vBulletin migration problem, so I will still leave a suggestion in case somebody with the same issue finds this thread.
There is an automated migration service that allows to transfer SMF to vBulletin (and in fact many other platforms) quite easily. The tool is paid, but it works well. Here is a detailed tutorial

You can't post links, mate. Read the board-rules?

Oh, I am sorry, I am new here, I remember though when I first registered (which was a while ago) it was permitted, if I am not mistaken.
