    PageRank and Co-op Revalidation

Now that Google PageRank is gone the coop weight among my sites is all messed up.

Yes, I know the coop is free! I LOOOVVVEEE the co-op!!! I am it's biggest fan!!! Hugs and kisses!!!

    BUT....

Now ALL the sites are all dropping in weight so every site is almost the same weight, no matter what it was before???

Reason I ask is because all my sites are around the same weight whereas before they were reflecting whatever the PageRank of the front page was...

One site whose weight was 21,599 last week now is 2,482.

So what incentive do I have to keep my "powerful sites" in the coop if they get the same or less weight than a brand new site that just has a lot of pages indexed???

If it were me I would have FROZEN the weight for existing sites instead of letting them all drop.

What do you think fellow co-op comrades???

    I'm with you '1001';
(and i'm also a fan of the co-op)

I think Shawn should figure out a new formula :) without PR , maybe include Alexa rankings (if it isn't used already, who knows)

Now it seems (comparing my sites) the number of index pages in Google is the only important thing

That will never happen as you can wildly inflate your Alexa ranking with a $5 booster. It would be abused within hours of it being instituted.

Only Google knows that. Anyway, I haven't seen anywhere that Google publishes anything about trustrank, let alone a measure like the toolbar gave us with PageRank.

well i'm pretty sure that they are just updating their datacenters and took them offline since this IS MEMORIAL weekend. they thought all of us webmasters would be out for a small vacation and not stuck on to our computers panicing because there is no PR on the toolbars.
I highly doubt that they have eliminated because the other day I had to download and install the latest ver. of the toolbar and it asked me if I wanted to enable advanced features (this was on their website) so I clicked on the advanced features link to figure out what it was and it said to 'enable PageRank' or something like that. I don't believe they'd have that there if they were planning to do away with it only a few days after.

Should have frozen the weight instead of letting all sites become even.

With the dozens of threads about this that have been popping up for the last few days I have lost track. Has Shawn replied to anyone of them? Is there some plan to fix this? My weight has dropped, and so have my impressions. What is going to happen now?

    Okay,

I am coming in the middle of this... This is what I have gotten out of this thread. Google Page Rank is totally gone? They have done away with it? What the hell is that about and why didn't they put anything out about it? Or did they?

No one knows where it went, but we'll know in due time. Google has said nothing about it, but their directory still displays PR for the sites listed in it and their toolbar for download still has the PR bar on it.
