Looking For Offers For Two Sites (Big Sites) - Both or Individual

Hello Everyone

I am looking to sell two big and highly potential websites. These sites in total took me almost two years to develop, which I did on my own. In the hands of the right person(s), they can be very successful.

The reason I'm even thinking of selling them is because I just can't get the time to use them to their full potential. I started working full time (great opportunity for me), and I have one other site that I want to focus on with the small amount of time I have left, after work. I would rather just place them in the hands of people who have the time and resources to make them grow.

I know that one of the main factors in the price for such sites is the revenue they generate. And I honestly don't even know how much they have made so far, but they do make money, whether it's from clicks or memberships. I've never really given them a chance to explode... this is because I haven't really marketed them, or tried to monetize them. I never even tried to sell advertising... except once for the dating site... but I never completed that.

So, at this point, I want to sell them to people who will take them and give them the fuel they need.

Site 1

This site is huge. It is focused on business, entrepreneurs, and auction tools. It has a membership system that is automatic with paypal payments. It has sold several memberships even though I've never marketed the site. It also places pretty good accross search engines. The only thing I ever did was submit the toolbar, which should still have listings in sites like CNET, ZDNET, Windows Marketplace, and many others...

Some of the features:

• Auction Tools (complete wysiwyg template system for auction pages... pretty nice)
• Auction Counters (with stats)
• Mobile Auction Data Access (can use mobile phones to check on auctions being tracked)
• Web Tools (mostly SEO stuff... not very comprehensive, but pretty useful)
• Wholesale Sources with search, favorites, and personal notes (members can save and keep notes for any wholesale source, plus rate them)
• RSS Market News Feeds
• Business Articles (high paying click rates on google ads)
• Personal Calendar system for members
• Custom Business Development Guidance System (very unique system I designed to guide people into building or improving their business using color coded sections and templates for 4 most general business types... really cool)
• Custom IE Toolbar! I built a very cool toolbar that work hand in hand with the site. Users can search the major search engines, ebay, and the wholesale sources database. And there is a tool I call HotLinks which is a single click html bubble that loads mini pages from the site. And members can add and remove urls/links. Like a favorites tool but cooler... because the favorites are stored on the site database and they can login from anywhere to access their favorites. very cool...

Thats pretty much the main features of the site. As you can see... it is very comprehensive. There's a lot of advanced stuff that you can use to make money with. I will talk in detail with the buyer about the site and explain everything... along with some other plans I had for the site. Buyer must also honor the current paid members. I will also install the site on your server.


Site 2

HookupShack - www.hookupshack.com

This is a growing nightlife and dating community with loads of stuff. Same thing here... not very much marketing... but it's growing. The members count is in the thousands. The site gets a lot of traffic primarily from search engines. All of them (google, yahoo, msn, aol, and many others) drive lots of traffic to the site. Even yahoo local and google local provide traffic.

Some of the features:

• Dating system (with all the normal dating site stuff, including IM and messaging)
• Flash ChatRooms (tied into the member database)
• Activity Board (place where members can place and share events)
• Drink Recipes (database with search, and rating... pretty popular)
• RSS Feeds for Daily Drink Recipe (automatic)
• Club Search (Thousands in the database for all 50 states. Search and rate)
• Bars and Pubs (Thousands in the database for all 50 states. Search and rate)
• Restaurants (Thousands in the database for all 50 states. Search and rate)
• Hotels (Thousands in the database for all 50 states. Search and rate)
• Yahoo Flash Maps tied into all 4 databases above for local search with markers and traffic conditions. Very cool!
• Several Flash Games (including a custom Ping Pong game with the site logo, very cool)
• Dating Tips and Articles (unique) not from other sites.
• GEO IP database (used to help assist in local business searches, and weed out non-us users from signing up.

That's pretty much the main feature list for this site. It has lots and lots of pages. All the search engines have indexed hundreds of pages for this site. Couple months ago I paid someone here to do directory submissions, and that seems to have increased the incoming links. Also December last year I published a press release which stirred up a lot of interest including a call from a radio station in NY. That was cool! I receive business contacts on the site here and there from business owners wanting to be added to the databases, and I also have had a few offers from Advertising companies to purchase all ad space.

Note: the hotels and restaurants sections are developed and functioning, just no public links to them yet... (part of the no time). However, I can pm you links to those two sections.



So those are the two sites. Feel free to do your research on the search engines. Both sites have a lot of pages indexed, and pretty much all the pages are PR4. That alone can generate a lot of money in ads. Go ahead and check out the sites and see all of the features, and how everything works.

I speak for myself and others I'm sure; Would it be possible for you to give us some ideas of the traffic both sites are receiving. I have an initial interest in one of the two sites.

In addition, are both sites custom coded?

Nice sites... It will be very hard for anyone to give you a good offer so i suggest that you specify some price range of the offers you are looking for like within $1-$2 (Example only ofcourse) That will help us make good offers

 

Uvex - pm sent regarding traffic. And site 1 is completely coded from scratch. Site 2 started with a script I purchased for 300, then I added a lot more to it, and I mean a LOT more to it.

Jaree - The thing is... I put soooooo much time and work into the sites, that I don't know what kind of numbers to put up, or I would have. It will take experienced webbies to determine the value and how much they should pay.

Maybe I should post in the appraisals category to see what others think.

The time you put into the sites has sentimental value only. What really matters is things like revenue, earning potential, pagerank, alexa rating, original content, design quality etc. By the way is there any revenue to speak of? Thanks

I disagree, it's not about only revenue and all that stuff everyone saying. Nice sites, design as well unlike others that are selling here. I wouldn't sell them for less than $500 (each), that's my opinion being a web developer for 4 years, you can either follow it or not Good luck with the sale. I'd make an offer if they were asp based.

The time I put into the sites has value, because that time would otherwise be paid for if they were for a client. There is also sentimental value as well, and that is why I'm having a hard time putting any numbers on the sites.

I think I just need to find a trustworthy appraisal service.

I've had offers in the past, and none were in the hundreds, but thousands.

The reason I won't price these site based on revenue and traffic is because I haven't tried applying either of them. I stated that in the first post. I also stated above that it will take experienced web persons to realize the value here.

Development alone is worth quite a bit. Ask yourselves what you think it would cost to develop these sites. Resale Insider is completely custom. No other site out like it. HookupShack is half script and half custom... also no other site like it.

These are unique sites that I put everything I had into... timewise... but I just never got a chance to give them the initial marketing due to lack of funds. I've been the only one to work on these sites... and with my own bills and living expenses... being self employed... I just couldn't fund any marketing. That's my loss.

As for revenue... again... with NO MARKETING they have both generated income in the low-mid hundreds. That's all I can say.... I made NO claims that these sites are generating tons of cash or tons of traffic... or I wouldn't sell them obviously.

So finally....

I am selling because I want to see them blossom. I expect the new owners to be experienced enough to do that. If you don't have the experience or resources, I'd rather not sell them.

Maybe we should try some kind of bids?????? I don't know... that's why the title says "looking for offers" and I'm sorry if this is oddball... but I'm not candy coating anything... and I'm being upfront. It's just a little difficult, I hope you understand.
