Bounce Rate Question...

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by NateLee21, Jul 3, 2015.

Quick question on bounce rate... I noticed my bounce rate is high and I'm assuming it's because I use Stumbleupon for a lot of traffic. However, my website has tons of image posts not in gallery format... If I used a gallery format where the user has to scroll through the images, but the page does not reload, will this lower my bounce rate???

I believe there is a WP plugin that solves the bounce rate problem. If you are running WP, try it out.

Yes, this technique will definitely reduce the bounce rate. There are several reasons for bounce rate such as slow loading time, difficult navigation or boring home-page.

Ok so i've been looking at some different tactics but don't know how to add this to my galleries... If you check out the url (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2511678-the-toughest-offseason-decision-every-nba-team-must-make/page/31) it changes everytime a image is clicked through, I know how to do this with permalinks, but when I click the back button on the browser it takes me out of the page instead of back one image, I'm assuming in googles eyes this is viewed differently. Also, I don't know how to make my last slide of a gallery to take me to the next post with image gallery in it... Anyone know how to do this????

If your traffic increases then your bounce rate will most likely to increase too.
For an ecommerce site, having a high bounce rate is a bad sign, but for some site that provides information bounce rate doesn't matter.

I think it would work quite the opposite from this.

Ok, I'm looking at my bounce rate in Google analytics and notice something's not right here... I can't figure out what's causing this to happen. I update content daily, with multiple posts, layout is the same, website is always up with rackspace hosting. Load speed is always very fast.

People dislike it when you send them to multiple pages for each image. This does increase bounce rate. I'm assuming that you are monetizing with CPM ads. If thats the case, you should make it scrollable and try to refresh the ads to the maximum permitted time by your ad network.

Yup, although it is poor UX and surely the big G is going to figure out a way to punish people that do this eventually or at least lower them in the SERPs. I think you should diversify media and posts types so as to provide multiple experiences to users, and don't do tons of those multi-page image posts. If you do a multi-image post, make the pages easy to navigate and fast. I see a lot of people do that where there are tons of ads and slow load times.

I'm not needing the page to reload for every single image... I just need the very last slide of a gallery to automatically take visitors to the next post with a gallery, that way when viewers are clicking through a gallery it causes them to unknowingly help page views and reduces bounce rate. Also an option on my gallery slider to change to a blog list format, kinda like thechive uses... Pretty much a few small edits that'll help bounce rate and increase page views. I've been monitoring my competitors and they're all starting to switch to this and their SERPs are sky rocketing. ...Even your big sites like bleacher report and what not are doing this now.
