    Dominic, I think it is more that the images pull your eyes down to them, and then you read whats under or next to them to find out what they are about, having "ads by google" won't change that. If the links are of interest they will get clicked. My site is a personality test, and if i can "trick" people into reading this:

    ads by google
    Online personality test
    asdasd asd as d as d as d
    asd asd a sd as d asd a sd

    I would say they will click the big blue words :)

    What I am trying to say is that it is not tricking the people into thinking they are going to another page of my site, its just to get them to read the damn ads :) If they read them they will see they are context sensitive, and are what they are looking for.

    Blending ads also does this, it gets them to read them. I am 100% happy for my visitors to know that they are ads. after all, I can not control the content of the sites the ads link to, they might have very poor designs, I don't want people thinking I made them :)

    Catch 22 you see, if they look like ads people will know they are not part of my site GOOD, but if they look like ads people wont read them BAD

    Yup: it's trickier doing things this way as opposed to original way (ALang's way) because you have to do your best to align your images to one 728x90 ad unit. But I think it's worth the extra effort; the method has clear benefits.

    Not tricky when you have the code:

    <table border="0" cellspadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="728">
        <tr>
            <td width="182"><img src="X"></td>
            <td width="182"><img src="X"></td>
            <td width="182"><img src="X"></td>
            <td width="182"><img src="X"></td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
            <td colspan="4">
                GOOGLE AD CODE HERE 728x90
            </td>
        </tr>
    </table>
    Code (markup):

    Hmm, haven't visit DP for a few days, but this thread is still active.

    @ www.AmCY.org - thanks for the applause.......all members who contributed in this forum deserved that.

    Right now, everyone is discussing the advantages of this tricks, but its have a disadvantages too especially, for those who really concern who the looks of their site. Sometime, google doesn't provide enough ads for one page and as a result, number of ads displayed maybe one or two instead of 4 (maximum no. of ads in 728 x 90 format). Your image won't align with text ads right? So what does you all do when you face this problem?

    Thats why right now, I'm testing to put an image same size with ads side by side. If only one ads displayed, the layout still look good.

    You are absolutely correct in that on some occassions you may not get enough ads and that would totally ruin the effect. But I have confidence in both the optimized content and the competition for specific keywords on the sites where I've implemented this technique. Ads have always been plentiful, and I doubt that credit cards are going to disappear any time soon, so I don't worry about it.

    :D ;) :D

    Thanks for the great post Criiters. There are some people that think you put it up and make money...the same people that complain about poor earnings. Please, the next time you see/here this speak up. I try to tell pesemistic Adsense publishers you put in what you get out. :)

    Don't stop doing what your doing...congrats.

    Nice concept!

    I have tried something similar on www.webhostrank.info

    Whether ads or no ads, after placing the images, it seems the site has become a bit lively.

    Thanks everyone!

    UPDATE: I emailed google with the "hate that frog" site (see my sig) which has images above ads and they said

    "Thank you for your email. I have reviewed you site, hatethatfrog.desktopcreatures.com, and found that currently it complies with our programme policies."

    So, yer all good, images above ads = very yes :D
