    Yes, First step to research good keywords for the website. According to me first step to analyze the full website and find out all error, issues and problems, then need to fix it all. After analyzing full website, we can research relevant, high quality, low competition and high search volume keywords for the website where from we can target only quality and relevant traffic on the website. :)
