Analytics vs AwStats?

    My host runs AwStat's and was wondering how much better Google Analytics was compared to AwStats?

    google analytics is way better and provides tonnes of advantages. Its super easy to setup as well so i recommend you do it and check out the benefits for yourself. :)

    I would trust Google Analytics more than AWstats if i'm honest, plus I feel that Google Analytics gives far more relevant data that can actually be used to implement and measure changes.

    I've never used any other analytics tools except for Google Analytics. I am actually satisfied with the data and information they give.

    awStat's is just so much easier to use. I been clicking on every link I seen in my google analytics to find "traffic sources" for what I set up and this wack thing is just showing all 0's across all the graphs. I can't find the list of referrals or phrases used to access my site from search engines. Maybe it'll just take awhile to update stuff, only had it on there for a few hrs.

    Awstats is no comparison to Analytics.
    Analytics only updates once a day, so you won't have any data for 24 hours.

    Google Analytics is indepth more than AWstats. It gives you details for allthing. I think Awstats gives you a fast look to check your traffic only during the day.

    Although Analytics' sophistication is undisputable, I believe AWSTATS is more accurate.

    I have the feeling that a lot of my traffic is getting away from the eyes of Analytics for some reason.

    I do social media campaigns and guest article campaigns, which send me a decent amount of traffic.
    Yet, Google's Analytics only sees a mere 8-10 % of the traffic that AWSTATS does.

    AWSTATS shows me a bunch of referral URLs, while in Analytics much less show up. And no, that's not just "bot" traffic, but real people who are getting away.

    I am using the Analytics code inside .php pages by using "include" like this:
    <?php include_once("../analyticstracking.php") ?>

    ...and similar throughout my pages.

    I am not sure whether this or what is probably hindering Analytics from seeing that little traffic.

    Awstats checks guests that have gotten to picture documents or archive records on your server straightforwardly, that would not have the Google Analytics code stacked, thus would not be numbered by Google Analytics.
